http://pullman.craigslist.org/cto/2223145803.html, this is near by. Im thinking of checking it out. Just by the sounds of the ad do you really think the motor is blown? I thought it was unlikely and going to check it out myself. Anyone have any thoughts on this?

I think i might. I've just never heard of the ej22 engines having any major issues to so i dont think the engine is blown.

My 2.2 wagon started to die within seconds once. It was a vaccum hose on the intake that got pulled out...

there are a ton of little things that can cause that kind of effect... at least he's pricing it expecting the motor needing to be replaced and if it doesn't need to be you've got an awesome deal

He already has someone looking at it later today. Hopefully they dont buy it. If i get the chance im going to go look at it. Even if the motor did need replaced theres a guy on the local forums that has a freshly rebuilt short block sitting around.

I bet the motor doesn't need replacing, I don't think the motor would die within seconds with that problem. People are stupid and misdiagnose things all the time. A friend of mine bought an 80something Monte Carlo with a 350 swap for 400$. It ran like crap and the guy said it had a blown piston.
