Anyone have a pic of the OEM rear foglight location on non-USDM BE/BH's? I've read that these were standard on euro and I think jdm cars, maybe its there on usdm cars too, just need to be wired up...

hmm well I can't seem to find any pics of the euro ones on google. I think its the little rectangle at the bottom that lights up...I looked on the US taillight and there's no reflector or hole there unlike the imprezas...

I think I'll go with one of those square ones mounted next to the license plate...

yeah, I found that on google, not really definitive, I mean the lowest lights look lit up, but they do have reflectors in the lens. Also the turn signal looks lit up on the driver's side (UK), maybe the the turn signal served dual purpose for this...I was thinking of wiring one of the reverse lights to do this too... (either use the existing bulb or put in a second, red bulb as required by law.

Can someone please explain to me what a rear foglight is? This whole thread doesn't make sence to me.

Its a red light that is brigther than your tail lights that needs to be lit during bad weather (fog, snow, rain, etc.). Pretty much it helps reduce people from coming up on you and rearend you in crappy weather.

All cars in the UK, Netherlands, and a couple of other European countries require it on cars there.

I don't follow.

These are my taillights:
Upper row:
tailight/brakelight | taillight/foglight | taillight/foglight | taillight/brakelight.
Lower row:
Left indicator | Reverselight | Reverselight | Right indicator.

Altough i used a 5-pin relay and made the foglights function as both brakelight and foglight.

Hope that cleared it up for you. :)

Quick update, did the switch and part of the wiring, just need to mount it, it will be next to the license plate.

Rear foglight, shipped from the UK, I took a page out of some EDM converted cars that used one backup light as the rear foglight so now I have 3 reverse lamps and 1 rear fog light.

Foglight uses a red 68 SMD LED bulb, I didn't feel like using a relay so I just re-wired an existing light switch I already had on the my dashboard directly to it. The brightness is comparable to the brake lamps when on.

Very nice set-up, I have '03 Legacy GT sedan I use as my foul weather car. I had SAABs in the past that all had rear fogs and they did keep peopel from rear ending me in blizzard conditions, and heavy fog. Is theer anyway to set up our existing rear combo light to have the rear fog set-up?

Looking at Legacy89's tail lights, the brake light portion in the center garnish are actually the rear foglights in those countries that require it. In other words, the lights are already there, they just need to be lit up by a switch. Using the 5 pin relay to trigger those lights (in additiont to being the brake lights) will work.
