View Full Version : Squeaking sound only when in gear or turning left?

Well I get this awful squeaking noise that definitely gets attention.
I get a slight squeaking noise when I turn my wheel over an 1/8th rotation to the left while moving. Turning right does not make this sound.
I also get a louder version of this squeaking noise whenever I am in gear going over 15-20mph. (Accelerating, cruising, and decelerating)
However if I am just coasting, not in gear, then there is no squeaking sound.
Any ideas?
I did a search, and from what other people have had, this issue does not sound anything close to their issues.

do not know this to be a fact, but i would check your power steering fluid and belts.

I tightened my belts and checked my CV axles.
Checked my lug nuts to make sure they were tight.
I also washed my car, both in the engine bay as well as under the car, to see if it might be a piece of dirt or something lodged somewhere it shouldn't be.
I will check my fluid.

Just checked the Power steering fluid and it is near full.

I am thinking its my throw out bearing.

Did both the noises start at the same time? Because my first insinct is that they are not related.

They both started not long after taking a 300mile trip.
They have 2 different tones. The one when I turn left is a rubber squeak noise but only happens when I turn the one direction and am moving. It doesn't happen when I am stopped and turn the wheel.
And the other one, isn't very loud, until I get going faster. But is a rubbing *NOT Grinding noise.
I have tried pushing my car with the motor off to replicate the noise and am unable to replicate.
The car drives just fine. Alignment is spot on. No power loss. No slipping clutch.
All I can think is that the throw out bearing is going out.

If the TO bearing is going, the noise would be present if the clutch was released or depressed. Not when you are turning or stationary.
The turning one sounds like you have a bushing worn on the right side of the car (as you turn left, physics depresses the opposite side).
The other sound, which occurs as you increase speed sounds like it could be something rubbing on the tire.

Ok so the squealing noise got progressively worse, and apparently my brand new hawk pads are toast because my rotors are warped...

Still unsure about the turning squeak noise.
