Okay, since I have owned my Outback, I have had to tighten the header nuts and bolts to keep it from leaking. I am toying with the idea of lock washers but I am not sure if they would work. Anyone else had this problem and maybe found a solution?

You might want to try dropping the whole thing and checking the threads on the bolts...maybe you could just use some heat-rated Loctite..

^^ Thanks for the loctite idea. I checked the threads when I put the new header on a few weeks back and they were clean. I had to chase one of them with a die, but they were good. It is driving me crazy because it sounds like crap.

you could add another nut if you have room as a lock, but then the stud might just vibrate out of the block instead...

This! Some automakers recommend using Loctite on the header bolts/studs.

Torqued correctly? I would just buy new studs and bolts if it keeps happening.

I had the same problem. I added another nut as a lock. plus locktight. and havent had any problems since.
