Changing plug wires....

I'm going to be putting on some new plug wires this weekend and was wondering if there were any tips or tricks to make it any easier ? This is my first Suby and things are awful tight on the drivers side . BTW it's a 03 with the 2.5 L , i did a forum search but i really didn't find anything just about the wires.

Remove battery and windshield fluid containers, get a couple different lengths of extensions for a socket wrench (or use a flex), get a plug socket with a rubber holder inside to make removal easier, loosen and remove. Put antiseize on the plug threads and reinstall. Wires are easy just make sure you mark the coil pack or just pull one wire off at a time. Good luck.

Oh my bad i read it wrong I thought you were doing both. You prob should throw some new ngks in there.

At least you have the SOHC, It a lot easier than DOHC... So you got that working for you.

Yeah , i guess it's not that bad just not what i'm used to. They changed the plugs and did about $2,100 worth of work to the car for me to get it really nice. Alas the one thing they didn't do was the wires. I was considering removing that window washer reservoir to get to that one wire a little bit easier.

I changed my plug wires last week, took me 5 mins and didn't have to remove anything. Why make the job harder than it should be? I did plug wires on my old GT during my lunch break before. Probably took 15-20 minutes and I don't remember removing anything. Doing spark plugs is a different story.

Plug wires are a cinch.
Just remember to use the dielectric grease on the new plug ends it'll make removal next time a lot easier.

Grab the plug boot nearest the cylinder, and pull straight out. You may need to pull fairly hard and it'll make a popping sound (suction). Install the new wire before you take off the top (coilpack) part and then just follow the wire up and swap the old wire end for the new one on the coil pack.

For the veterans here, that's a noobie way of doing it, but it works and helps you avoid mistakes. Do one wire at a time.

Also there are different lengths (I think) so make sure you get the right one where it needs to be. I'm sure you would figure it out but its always good to know ahead of time.

Got my Rallitek wires on and all went well. Car is running noticeably better and that ticking on the passenger side of the engine has all but disappeared for some reason. Thanks to all for the help. :smt023
