If you had a choice of a carbon fiber piece to buy right now for your car what would it be? And for what car? Please no outrageous answers, this isn't a dreaming thread, I'm looking to make something happen. And if you agree with a member on a part let it be known. Thanks

a RS style hood that fits our legacy's :D

seriously though I'd go for a hood, even the L hoods are heavy.

but don't you normally need hood pins for carbon fiber hoods?

but don't you normally need hood pins for carbon fiber hoods?

Not if they're crafted with the right latches and skeletal structure. Most aren't, hence the need for pins.

To stay on topic:

CF driveshaft
strut brace
RS style hood with a "fit your own scoop" hole cut out. Not everyone wants a mammoth scoop (frankly I'd prefer a reverse cowl)

Im thinking a smaller scale at first. I myself wouldn't mind some interior trim, radio bezel, center vent bezel, gauge bezel, engine covers, fuse panel cover, gas cap door etc.

Roger I was going to tell you no drive shafts lol.

Only real CF thing i think i still want is a Roof Cap/sunroof delete for my integra. But then again if i really wanted it i would just buy one (one company out there still makes what i want)

Sorry Shane. I guess I figure if someone is going to do CF stuff, then there needs to be a real advantage to using the material's lightness and strength. Interior parts are already light, and they're never stressed so strength isn't much of an issue.

Although, a nice CF center console with two US sized cup holders would be nice. I wouldn't bother with CF bezels and what not but a functional center console is worth my time.

how about a carbon fiber belt cover? i think the would be pretty easy to make. also, what about a carbon fiber grill? i know that one might be a little harder, but what if it was made like the diy grils that people have done, where the center is cut out and replaced with just the wire netting stuff. I think that would be really cool.

These parts will be A1 quality if I decide to move forward.

If you make them for a good price I am in! I need to get nice bezel and trim pieces. That would look good.

i'd also like the idea of a fuse box lid. I know it may sound funny, but it could really accent a clean engine bay... just a thought.. lol

Spare tire cover! Someone on this board made one out of a scrap hood. The bigger the part, the greater the weight savings :)

Holy side scroll Batman!

The only thing I would really care about and/or buy would maybe be a custom grill of some sort.
Other then that, I'm content with my woodgrain... =)

I did see someone say a belt cover, that might be cool, depending on cost that is... You know, I would get a CF Fuse box cover for giggles! Dont know why, just seems cool...

another thing i thought of the other day was door sills, but i dont think carbon fiber would handle that abuse would it? i do think it would look really cool if it could be done though.

-Sunroof delete/plug
-arm rest lid
-5MT shift boot ring
-cluster bezel like the stainless steel ones

Reason clearly does not want to do anything "large" for the first run.

Trunk/Hatch
Hood/Bumpers
Skirts/Roofs..

These are all HUGE items and massive amounts of money to get going.. With SLi's track record its safe to say that these items will never happen..

Smaller items on the other hand are within most members budgets..

Speak for yourself.. You got to pay to play... Make sacrifices.. A car is more important to me then a house.. Others do not agree and end up with rice-ish styling..

I am willing to step-up with the money if there are others who support and can fund these projects.

Chuck, it was a joke. I know there are people like you who are baller car guys. Me, I've got different priorities. Had you caught me 10 years ago I'd have easily eaten ramen for a year to mod my car like nobody else was doing.

More parts!!
-Eyelines all years.
-Roof antenna delete

-Eyelines all years.

Now thats something I might buy!

no joke though, I would buy a fuse box cover. :smt023

Not that I would buy one, but someone might want a console lid or a glove-box face. The lid should be easy to cast and build... Who know, I might get one of those too, but I would then need a complete set to replace my wood grain...

This is true, that's why aftermarket manufacturers go after new models. Those people can.afford some Mods. That's where the money is when it comes to making and selling parts.. I sell parts and want to make parts for older models because that's where my heart is. Im not looking to get rich from selling parts. I want to provide parts for people and myself that share the same enthusiasm for these cars. Will I do it for nothing? I would be lying if I said yea. It takes a lot of time and in the case of makingparts money as well.

There is a guy at legacy central making sunroof deletes where you can either have it fit into the space and seal it so you can delete the whole thing or have a piece the replaces the glass and opens like oem just has a CF piece where the glass is. 1990-1994 legacies right now and hoods coming too. I am getting one

CF rear quarter panels! No rust!
