So my car got towed and i havent picked it up yet. Hopefully the guy was smart enough to use a flat bed tow truck, because i hear a tow on an AWD car can f' up the rear differential. I'm dreading what my car is gonna be like. Have any of you guys had your car towed and did it damage anything?

Towing your car on two wheels like some towtrucks WILL ruin the center diff. If towed on a flatbed then youre fine. That would be the first question I aske before I get my car back.

Yeah, I was towed before, too. They used a regular tow truck with one end lifted. They used dollies to have the other wheels off the ground, though. I think most tow operators know about not towing AWD vehicles with 2 wheels on the ground. Most, because they're true professionals, and take pride in their work and stay current on that type of stuff. The others, because they've screwed someone's car up and gotten sued over it.

I was afraid on that one...center differentials aren't fun to replace.

most of these guys are pretty sharp. i don't think you're giving them enough credit.
sucks that your car got towed, but they're just doing their jobs. and for the most part, i'm sure they know what they're doing.

who knows? It's not a very common replacement. I'd guess several thousand though.
