Ok, so I just picked up this car today. I'm not sure where to start with it since I got it dead...

The lady I got it from says she was in a parking lot and it just stopped running and wouldn't fire again. I've worked on it a bit and couldnt get it to even try and fire. The car is a 2.2 with and auto...

I'm told it could be a coil (which I tried an extra GT one, no different), or maybe a crack sensor. I've never had this problem before so I'm not sure where to start. I cant get any codes off it ether.

She has taken good care of it, they were in the middle of trying to sell it when it died so they just didnt want to fix it. It's got 231K on it also.

Any help would be great! Would like to get it running as soon as possible!

Does it just crank? Check to see if you have spark and have fuel coming in.

Yeah, it just cranks... I'll test fuel and spark in the morning.

If you can compression test too. An engine needs three things to work: fuel, spark, and compression. You have to figure out which one of thoes is missing.

Its got enough compression for sure... I pulled the fuel lines off and nothing when the key is on. All the fuses are good and I dont hear/fee the pump run. Gonna see about getting a used one tomorrow.

I would have worked on it more, but it's been pouring rain all day and the car is 50 feet from the shop...

If it cranks, but wont fire, have you checked the crank sensor or the connection between the starter motor?

I was getting pissed at it and a my buddy came over to help... We figured out after 30 minutes that the fuel pump was stuck. He banged on it wail I cranked it over and she slowly fired up... Now runs and drives. Gonna see about getting a used fuel pump tomorrow...

It's also tossing a Catalytic converter code... errrr.... I might be hitting one of you guys up for some cats.... But it runs and runs good....

Check the o2 sensors before you mess with a cat.

Ok, all I gotta say is make sure the pins are lines right when plugging in the damn pump...

Got a new pump after the used one didnt work, then looked at the pins and one had folded over. Dont know how it happend, but it did. fixed it and the used pump works like a champ!
