Replacement sway bar for BD GT

Alright, so I was not even thinking about this till about 20 minutes ago.

So I'm pulling out of the driveway and hear a big boom... I heard and notice a couple more times but not as loud... So I get home and look under the car on the left front thinking it might have been broke axle or a spring. Nope...

It was this... Didnt know they can brake!

So what I'm asking is, what are my options? Is there an upgrade for the GT bar, or is it the best one I cane get? I would think about doing aftermarket if the cost is not crazy.... Any help would be great! Thanks guys! :grin:

25mm tribecca FSB, ~75 at the stealership and with the way it mounts it works like a 23mm fsb. I have one installed on my car and I don't believe I have any body roll left.

turn in is awesome, but because I only have a 18mm rsb there is still some understeer,

What needs to be done to make a Tribecca bar fit?

And also is there any other options...? Is the Outback the same diameter? Or what about aftermarket? Just want to make sure I'm getting the one I want :D

What do you guys think? Anything else better out there or cheaper thats just as good?

Called Subaru... They have a newer bar from I think an 02 or 03, 1mm bigger (21mm) for $69 in stock. The Tribecca one is $92 and a week out. The OEM one is $169... haha...

to make it fit you need to get the tribecca bushings or hollow out your own ( I hollowed mine out ) and install it upside down compared to the stock orientation and on the outside of the end links

no idea on the fitment on the 3rd gen bar onto a 2nd gen

I just got a new bar from Subaru. They say it's a 2002/03 bar (part #20401AE03A), thats 21mm if I remember right. 1mm bigger.... My parts guy told me they have seen a few of them brake on Outbacks and replace them with this one. He says they are a direct bolt on for the BD's, just a little thinker but with bushing were they fit almost perfect.

I got it with my whole sale account for $50.96 out the door and have it sitting here in the living room! Cant complain about 50 bucks for a new OEM swaybar that is a little bit of an upgrade! :grin:

No joke! Took me about 30 minutes to install and went right in, no problem. Havent got to put it into a corner yet, but drives normal...

Probably because we all know the multi-link suspension on the BE/BH is so different to the BD/BG, that it scares us all off trying front end parts.

well... if it fits a BD it'll fit a GF like my OBS... yea the wife will have 21mm front and 20mm rears

yea the only thing is the tribecca bushings don't have a nipple on the top like the legacy bushings do so there is a possibility of the busing moving, if your worried use some hose clamps on each side of the busing

I may just drill it out. Don't mean to thread jack here. But I am getting a 22-25 Adjustable Rallitek Rear Sway Bar to complement the Tricbeca front what setting should I have the rear on?

Or should I just experiment?

Depends if you want understeer, neutral, or oversteer.

You could go play Forza and mess with settings on an AWD car, that'll show you how the settings change.

The reason for this is to remove the understeer. So neutral or oversteer (not a lot though)

I'd start with the middle setting (if it's 3 way adjustable) or the 22mm setting and adjust to taste from there

Figured I would let you guys know... Car handles much better! A little bit stuffer in the corners...
