This is the story of my "9 lives" 97 OB.
It was destined to be junked when a Subie tech friend of mine saved it. The owner did not want to deal with it having a broken water pump.
He fixed it and I bought it for my wife (oct 08), and it shared a stable with all of our Mustangs, and my 05 FXT.
My wife is a home visit nurse and it racked up a lot of trouble free miles.
It's only mod was a K&N drop in, and a in dash DVD player.

Enter august 09, and it got it's second life.
On a trip to KC we creamed a Buck doing 60 on I35. It came around a Semi and we had no chance.
The bags did not blow, it did break the condensor. It was getting dark and I could not see what was wrong. We got it towed to a small shop, and the owner was super cool. He let me come over the next morning and get under it to inspect it. I was able to borrow tools and get everything bent/wired up. Ended up driving the car the rest of the way to KC, and home (500 miles) without a hiccup.
Insurance totalled it out and I bought it back and fixed it.
Here are some pics

Stripped for pulling- it was pushed back and down

I got lucky and found a green fender. I did all the pulling/jacking with a body mate, porta power, and come a long. (my dad was a body man and I inherited his tools, and luckily he taught me alot!!

Getting closer. More jacking/pulling needed

Going together for the final time!

Yay!

In all it was 2 weeks from the accident until it was back together.

Fast forward to Oct 10. My wife got a company car, and I had to sell my FXT back when I lost my job.
We put the OB up for sale, and after a couple people looked at it and made offers I had to think about it. I decided The OB has been way too good of a car to let it go, so it became my driver. I was starting to make a plan for it.
Then a kid decided to not turn a corner all the way.

It got punched.
https://sl-i.net/FORUM/images/imported/2011/03/IMAG0062-1.jpg

It buckled the fender, broke the driver's headlamp. absorber, impact bar, fog lamp, grille, and bent the bumper re-inforcement.
So it got written off again.
Once again I fixed it.
(don't have pics of it).

Now I have an EJ22 in the garage I have gone through that is going in it, and a Turbo setup.
And I just bought some 04 STI struts/springs for it. I will post more pics as I get more done!
Now she's 192k miles young!

Thanks for looking!

You got some nice cars, I would love to have that FXT. That old wagon sure has been through a lot.

Thanks!
I miss my Fozzy, but it went to a good friend of mine that also works at Subaru. So it has a really good home!

This wagon deserves the name "battlewagon" possibly more than any other car I've seen here.

Dirty and all, here she is about 5 minutes ago.
She has had a lot of mishaps, but she has not caused us any issues. Heck after going 500 miles after the deer hit she proved her worth!
My 8Yr old Daughter liked those "My Subaru saved my life" Commercials, and she tells people all the time it's true, because our Subaru saved her life :)

I still have to finish fixing the front cover and re-paint it. Also it will get pulled in as it has the typical Subie 1/4 rot on the drivers side.
But first I should fix the 1/4's on my Suburban :)

nice survival story! These cars are so tough, I've heard a few stories of how these cars will get in an accident and they will still keep on chugging!

That deer hit was only a flesh wound! Can't wait to see all the new stuff go on.

Well tonight I threw new Vc gaskets in it to stop a leak it just developed, so I don't end up with too many spots in my driveway before the ej22 goes in :)
Navi- Nice to see another Iowan! I used to be that way every other weekend when my sister and Bro-in-law lived in Gilbert.

So I finally got around to putting on the GT/Limited wing on the OB, and also got the 04 STI struts/springs in! It goes for it's alignment on Tuesday. I used a Paranoid fab 3/8" spacer in the rear, and a camber bolts on the rear upper, and right now it is sitting with some positive camber, so I should be made in the shade as far as adjustment :)

Nice drop. How bad do your front tyres rub on turns? Mine rub pretty bad, and I have an LGT suspension on the front.

Well she has started to show some signs of torque bind. I am going to end up throwing a lower mileage trans in it when i put the 2.2 in.
For the time being I am figuring i am going to go ahead and mock up my turbo setup on the 2.5, and have a little bit of fun until I have time to do the swap. Customer cars have been keeping me busy!

Took a grille I got from another member and re-built it to fit my needs
https://sl-i.net/FORUM/images/imported/2011/09/IMAG0680-2.jpg

it had a lot of filler that was cracking out of it
So I ground/cut it all out

Using 3M Automix and some plastic repair pieces I had I filled the openings properly

On the car, I think it's subtle enough of a change

Fantastic looking! I am going to steal some of your ideas for the filler. Lol. Has to be the best grill I have seen yet!

Thanks guys!
the 3m Automix (or lord fusor has it's own, SEM has it as well) is great as it will remain flexible and let you build it up so your skim coat of filler is really thin as it should be so no crack worries.
For the filler pieces in the shop I have even used the bottom of an old laundry basket with great success. Just rough it all up real well so the Automix can bite into it.

Today I got the JDM markers in the mail. They had been sprayed with Nightshades, and I wanted them to be stock amber.

So I did the old brake fluid trick
