So Hey everyone.
today is an exciting day, i just got my 1991 Legacy turbo!!
i am super stoked becuase i have been waiting forever for one of these to turn up.
it is freakin sweet, i love it already anyway here is the info

Engine: the EJ22T motor, Closed Deck. one of THE only motors they did the fully closed deck(hahaha)
right now it is stock(turbo, no IC,) runs like a dream with just 216,000 miles
the guy i bought it from also gave me a complete low milege motor. this will be my build until the one in it goes. just wait. :grin:

Trans: five speed, stock, pretty rare, usually came in auto
Diffs: viscous limited slip with 3.9 gearing
Suspension: 06 wrx shocks with prodrive lowering springs(blue). lowered about 2"

Yakima roof rack
'06 interior(seats, doors, console.)

Get an IC on there ASAP. People were getting 30hp from that upgrade alone.

Nice looking SS you have there. I used to have one in the other red, same year, but automatic, and that wouldn't do, lol.

As anothernord above me mentioned, your motor will love a top mount intercooler (the only ones that fit well are the
06-07 WRX and the SG body Forester XT), and perhaps a wrx's TD04. Couple that with 440cc injectors and my friend
Florin had his 91ss dynoed at 189whp, up from 130whp stock, on the stock ecu.

Not to detract from your thread but the ej22g and some ej20g's were factory closed deck as well.

Oh yeah that guy I told u about still has that td04 for a hundred bucks ( w/ no shaft play) and I've got those yellow top 480cc injectors ill sell you for way cheap. then all you would need is a i/c and you'll have a pretty quick little car.

ya, the guy that sold me the car, like i mentioned, had a spare motor, well he also had a 05(i think) forester xt IC. so i am thinking of slapping that on reeeaal soon.
also, there is a company that makes ECU kits for this car, they are called REVTRONIC. they basically have 2 stages of ECU's. each stage requires a few mods, like a TD04, injectors, downpipe, IC, etc. but they are pre-tuned ECU's and pretty cheap too. because it is basically imposible to tune these stock ecu's! anyway, any other ideas???

Just to let you know, Revtronics has been M.I.A for over a year now so finding one of their chips will prove difficult. Car looks really clean and rust free. I've read, on bbs.legacycentral.org, that a td04 and tmic really bring the car to life. I'll be following this one too.

Edit to clarify: He has no association with them, but is the go to guy to get these cars chipped, since Rev dropped off the face of the world.

i also heard that the EJ20G, basically the twin to this car but in japan, has a ECU that can plug right in with a simple mod to the ignitor. if that is the case, those ecu's are much more Tuner friendly:)

With the wasted spark to coil on plug wiring harness conversion (I used a patch cable and 3 igniters instead of cutting wires), you can run tuning solutions meant for an ej20g on your EJ22T, such as the Apexi PowerFC, or a "robtune" I mentioned earlier.

^^^more info on that, the harness conversion? i am really looking into this. does it work? i got a spare ignitor from the junkyard to experiment with, but if you say you did it with 3 ignitors i would be interested to see how you did it. and if you can get any more info on the tunes that'd be great.

Here's the writeup I used. I actually sourced an SVC igniter so I only needed two, but those are rare and kind of spendy, and 3 90-99 legacy ones work the same way.

I got a busted ECU and de-soldered the plugs to make my own "patch" harness, but you can certainly a patch harness one made for an EJ20g or ej22/22t and modify that.
Rob is the tuner's username, he's on legacycentral and nasioc, and lives down in Puyallup WA. You have to buy a 4-plug EJ20G ECU (hence the reason for the conversion harness) and he solders on his tuning chip. PM him for the rates.
