I posted this on LegacyGT.com as well.

So I think I installed my Rallitek 4EAT Transmission Mount Insert properly today. But I don't think I did.

This is the mount I installed today
http://www.rallitek.com/RalliTEK-4EAT-T ... ert/p-4634 (http://www.rallitek.com/RalliTEK-4EAT-Transmission-Mount-Insert/p-4634)

This is what my stock transmission mounts look like (2 of them)

http://www.autopartswarehouse.com/detai ... wid8Y1hDqO (http://www.autopartswarehouse.com/details/QQSubaruQQLegacyQQOES_GenuineQQMotor_and_Transmission_MountQQ19901996QQW0133-1627925.html?apwcid=P1135867996W43b3f85c7ab9e&apwid8Y1hDqO)

If you look at the pictures on Ralliteks page the mounts are way different.

They look like this one
http://www.autopartswarehouse.com/detai ... widXmcEe75 (http://www.autopartswarehouse.com/details/QQSubaruQQLegacyQQWestarQQMotor_and_Transmission_MountQQ19971999QQWSEM9074.html?apwcid=P1135867996W43b3f85c7ab9e&apwidXmcEe75)

This is how I put it together.

Only their website it says it works with the 96 legacy. But the way I installed it doesn't seem right. It was a pain in the ass to install too (getting bolt holes lined up).

Them's the breaks.. No one mentioned that you need the "updated" one piece 4EAT mount w/ new cross member from a newer style 4EAT for this to work.

This is the newer style.

Finding these parts shouldn't be to hard.

Has turned out to be quite the pain to find. I have called 5 junkyards now and none of them have any 97 or new Legacy's with the 4EAT. So I am still on the lookout.

I did some research and came to the conclusion that I need the 1 Piece with new Cross member as you stated above. I will E-Mail rallitek and see if they can put a note on their page.

why cant u get a impreza mount/cross member.. It should be the same. You can verfiy the p/n with the FASTII system or calling the dealer.

What years are you thinking? The only Impreza's in the yards around here are 93-95. I will call the dealer though.

If I found a junkyard that had things newer then 2000 that would be awesome. That just doesn't exist around me without paying a pretty penny.

Called Subaru and they said the 95 Impreza Trans mount is the one piece

Send it back to Rallitek with the pictures. You can DIY your own mount with some tape, and polyurethane. Hell a plastics/rubber shop could easily fill the void.

I am not going back under the car until I have the right parts. I don't like to jerry rig anything at all. Doesn't fit in with me.

Stupid parts lady at Subaru has a job for no reason. 95 is the 2 piece mount. She said she cross referenced it and they were the same part number. Ha!

Drove to the junkyard 35 minutes away to find out its the same damn thing. So I drove back home and am back into this situation. I have called numerous places. Some have the mount but not the cross member. Actually NO ONE has the cross member. Love shopping for parts for this car.

Edit: Just called Rallitek and spoke to them about the situation. And they said because I tried to install it that they will not take it back. The guy made it seem like I was the idiot.

On their site it states that 93-2004 ALL 4EAT's it will work on. Impreza's and Legacy's didn't get the One Piece Automatic Trans mount till 97. But supposedly it's my fault for them advertising a part that doesn't fit on certain years. So they are refusing to take it back. And their Sales Manager is out till Monday.

Hope he doesn't try to give me any problems about it. Not too satisfied with them after this "Great" customer service I have just received. Whiteline will be getting my money for sway bars not Rallitek.

They tried to shaft me on some plug wires... It was a year later that they changed their advertising to show that the wires only apply for SOHC engines.

Print out, take screenshots of their site, your parts and subaru part numbers. They might try to whip the carpet out.

Notice how i listed the FASTII system first and then the dealership.

Do yourself a favor and check out the software I posted in the literature section. Be your own parts department!!

From that part number you posted it looks like the EJ22's only had that mount in 1998 and up. The EJ25's were all years?

Stupid cross-referencing

Okay about the EJ25 comment. There was a 96 outback at the junkyard that I went to yesterday. It had the 2.5 in it. I looked and it was the same 2 piece.

So 97+ EJ25's had the One Piece Mount and 98+ EJ22's had the one piece mount.

From what I can tell at least. But in the information you provided above it says

"'95, June — '98, May WAGON (Step roof) 2500CC EMPI DOHC NA FULLTIME 4WD Automatic transmission OUTBACK Normal suspension"
"'98, June — WAGON (Step roof) 2500CC EMPI DOHC NA FULLTIME 4WD Automatic transmission OUTBACK Normal suspension"

But like I said the 96 I found had the same 2 piece mount I did and the crossmember I did.

Okay so I spent 5 hours today running around getting parts to convert to the one piece transmission mount/crossmember.

Got the crossmemeber and the one piece transmission mount. Put my insert in and went to work under the car. Once I got under there I removed the 2 piece mount and Crossmember and went to drop the new Crossmember in w/ the transmission mount on it.

Put in the Crossmember bolts and it looked really short. I let the transmission drop all the way to see if it would rest on the new mount but it wouldnt. There was about 2-3 inch gap.

So I took it out and started looking. I am pretty sure the mount I got is correct. But I am not 100% about the Crossmember. It's an automatic crossmember.

So I installed the stock setup back in and when I went to do that I went to put the bolts back into the mount holes that connect to the transmission and I am pretty sure I cross threaded the threads in the transmission. So I need some ideas on what to do with that. And what is the deal with the crossmember I got.

So that chuck doesn't ream my ass. I couldn't find a part number on either of the Cross Members. But I was looking at the FSM. And the pictures for the outback Cross Member don't have such a big hump. The legacy's do.

So I guess I got a Cross Member from an Outback. I didn't know there would be a difference.

makes sense, the outbacks have a 1-2" lift on all the subframes. for example: the forester/outback 5spd transmission xmember looks just like the impreza one, except that it has these big spacers welded to it. so on the automatics they just made it flatter so the drivetrain is that much lower from the body.

does the 1-piece mount you got not mount on your original xmember??
if not, the xmember you need is 41021AC380 superceded by 41021AC440

Baddog

No the one piece doesn't. If you look at the bottom of the cross member the bolt holes are different and drilling them out wouldn't work. Because of the placement of the current holes.

So I need the Cross Member 41021AC380?

This is from a Legacy GT Wagon

11 Cross member complete-rear at 1

So yes what "elislider" posted is correct but any of the above will work. Superseded just means that a newer part is available based on the original p/n

ya if you look on the link i posted earlier:
http://opposedforces.com/parts/legacy/u ... _mounting/ (http://opposedforces.com/parts/legacy/us_b11/type_17/engine/engine_mounting/)
you can see the 2-piece mounts are in a box labeled "-0596" indicating the mount style changed in production mid-1996. which would stand to reason the crossmember changed then too, if the crossmembers are not compatible between the mounts

shameless self-ploy: if anyone else wants one of these Rallitek automatic transmission mount hardened bushing inserts, i have one for sale.

Finally got this all installed today. I hate having to remove the exhaust there to get to eat easier. I do notice some firmer shifts. I also have STI Group N motor mounts. They didn't produce much NVH or any for that matter.

The transmission mount I do notice more vibration in the cabin.

Btw you are correct in observing the u-pull-it yards not having anything newer than 96 or 97 but lots of junkyards do have newer than 2000 models, they're just not u-pull-it's. Best site is car-part.com and you can search all local junkyards for a specific part (built in cross-referencing)
