'98 gt tranny in my 95 lsi problem!? *new problem*

soo.... the transmission went out in my 95 legacy with the 2.2L, so i bought a transmission/driveshaft/rear diff/torque converter that was in a 98 legacy gt with the 2.5L..
so I put the transmission in, but it wouldnt really go on all the way... so I thought maybe I needed to use my stock torque converter.. so I put that in, and tried to install the tranny again... it still doesnt see, to want to go in!

any ideas as to why this could be??
also, idk if its because the tranny isnt on all the way, but i tried to turn the engine over by putting a ratchet/socket on the crank pulley, and it wouldn't turn over...

I've spent soo much time dickin around with this, and im getting fed up with it... tomorrow i'll be missing school because of it unfortunately... :(

please help with any ideas or suggestions!!

Broski, I think I have the solution. You know the shaft that the torque converter (TC from here on out) goes on/in? Well, using a flashlight you can see a tube in there. On the outer end of the tube is a metal circlip.

Make a loop with some fishing line, and use that loop to snag the ends of the circlip, and pull that and the tube out.

Now here's where the magic happens. On the opening of the TC you can see where the circlip ends needs to go, so use some needle nose to clamp them closer together, slide that tube into the TC, release the pliers, and bam! That's how it's supposed to go back in.

I filled up the TC with quite a bit of tranny fluid, the rotated it around while tipping it so it took in more and more. Put the torque converter and attached tube back onto the tranny. Once it slides in, rotate the TC clockwise and then counter-clockwise several times slowly (note - fluid leaks out at the beginning of this step). The TC will clunk in closer a couple times, and the bolt holes will be just about flush with the tranny bellhousing when you're "in".

Use the TC from the tranny that you've installed, as the bolt pattern is different between ej25D and ej22. Trust me...

I also wrap fishing line or wire around the TC to flexplate bolts while I'm initially threading them in, so they don't drop down, and get stuck on a ledge. Trust me...

Test to see if the bolt pattern of the 2.5 TC is the same as your flex plate. Basically the TC and the flex plate have to be matched. I ended up using a forester 2.5 flexplate and TC on my 2.2 4eat tranny. Worked fine.

Soo....this whole project makes me wanna shoot myself in the face!!
Nothing is workin out..
At this point, I honestly dont know wtf to do...
at this point, the gt in or output (?) shaft is stuck in the gt tc.. And we put the shaft from my stock tranny in the gt tranny, and I can't get that out of that tranny... So yeah, idk what to do!!

Haha, take a picture of the problem(s) as I'm not sure I follow. Trust me, 3 years ago I was in the same boat, never having touched an auto-before, lol.

Brought it to a tranny shop.... Tranny/torque converter is fucked now....

Could be you merely disturbed the seal on the tranny input shaft. That also happened to me. Makes your car into a "gusher" until you replace that seal.

I have been told some pretty tall tales by shops. I wouldn't give up cuz they would. damn I wish you live up here so I could help. any new info?
