I am looking to buy soon the enkei ekm3 wheels they are 17x7, 5x100, and 45 offset. I am still debating on which color the hyper silver or the gunmetal but I am leaning towards the hyper silver more. Im not too sure about the tires to get and I was thinking on getting some 215/45/17 or 225/45/17. Would I have any clearance issues with these 2 tires sizes? If you guys can help recommend what tire size or help me decide which tire size I should get that would be great thanks. Oh and I also have some emusa full coilover suspensions on and I think my car is pretty much at stock height. From the top of tire to the bottom of wheel wall in between there I can fit 3 fingers in front and 4 fingers in rear hope this helps.

Depends on how big your fingers are.

the finger measurement thing is so lame. At least use a ruler or something :p On a 2nd gen, 215/45 is probably the safer better to prevent any rubbing, 225/45 would fill out the wheel arches a bit better and I honestly like the meatier sidewall look vs. rubberband thin sidewall. In the end it boils down to the wheel you picked; its 7" width, so 215 is the better width for that wheel. 225 would give you a bit more sidewall flex, translating to a little more muddle steering response.

I am looking at the bridgestone potenza re960as pole position on tirerack right now and the 225/45's are cheaper then the 215/45's. The 225/45's are $152 and the 215/45's are $167 so overall $60 less on a set. I got a couple of buddies that work at discount tire and I am planning on getting it there cause they do lifetime mounting and balancing. On discount tire they have 2 different but same kinds 225/45's of bridgestone potenza re960as pole position one is at $161 and the other $167. The cheaper one is 91W B and the other is 94W XL B. For the 215/45's they go for $176, again its $60 less overall on a set. I always thought the bigger the tire the more expensive it is. These tires for all sizes have a $75 rebate on them right now they seem pretty good to me. Reason why I chose these is I got a set of bridgestone blizzak ws70 on my stock wheels and they work GREAT in 1ft+ of snow had no problems at all, so I figure Id just stick with bridgestone. Well anyways would you guys go for the fatter tires cause there cheaper or say f*ck it and buy the smaller tires for more? All of you are saying that the 215/45's would be best for me but if you could save $60 for the 225/45's would you?

Oh btw my 3 fingers is roughly 2.5" and 4 fingers 3" Id say around there. Also all my wheels and tires are for daily driving I dont do any "racing" or "touring" whatever you wanna call it takumi tofu face drifter blah blah etc. etc..

225/45 on a 17x7 wheel will fit just fine... if you are lowered aggressively you might need to roll a fender.

215/45 will do just fine also.

Buy whatever fits your budget and lifestyle, but personally if you're just looking for an all-season tire, you could just get some Falken ZIEX 512s for $75.

What about me running a 04 Wrx struts with eibach springs? Running a 17x7 +40. I would have to say roll em probably. But what size tire should I go with? I was thinking of 225/45/17? But I can get my hands on a set of 235/45/17s. Also found a set of 225/50/17s. How much of a difference is that? Not sure please help!!!!! Thanks.

well im lowered on kyb gr2's and Whiteline flatout springs and they're about the lowest springs made for your car. I run 215/45/17's because im pretty sure i'd rub bad with the 225's... The eibachs i believe arent as low, so you should be ok.
