Well it looks like my help has been asked for again. Lol my friends '97 Impreza Outback wagon has a bad rear wheel bearing. I have just started to look into doing this.... What can you folks tell me.... I believe it is a press fit unit. If it is, what press would I need to do it on my own? Would it just be easier to tear it down and take it to a local shop?

Thanks for the help.... This is one of the things I never learned how to do, so I have lots of questions, and any tips/hints/info would be great. Thanks again.

This is a press in bearing requiring a press to remove the outer race from the hub, and hub tools to remove and press in the new bearing. I wouldn't tear things apart and take them into the shop as the job is easier with everything still mounted to the vehicle. Is this AWD?

Go to the dismantler and get the whole rear hub assembly as one unit... then just swap that out.

It will be about 1/3 the price of doing new bearings.
