If I just removed the spacers and put the GT spec bolts on, would I have to change the steering rack? Or is the steering rack on the outback different than the legacy in length. I just want the spacers out. I dont want to have to buy a new steering rack unless I have to.

IIRC on the Forester it requires screwing with something on the rack but I can't recall exactly what it was. I hope for your sake it's as easy as taking out the spacers!
