2009 legacy fuel question

So I am looking at buying a 2009 legacy turbo Gt. Limited and it says it takes premium fuel but could I run regular?

I would not. For higher performance engines I would recommend 91-93.

Well I bought it any way. Traded the 2002 for the 2009 with a turbo. Finally I have a turbo. So now that I have a car with a turbo what can I do to it? Now the real fun can begin!

It's tough to find a forced induction car that doesn't run premium fuel.

As far as first mods go, I will just say this: Don't get a blow off valve or a Front Mount Intercooler unless you know what you're doing.

Stock parts are always a good way to go.

And if you're going to upgrade the engine, make sure you balance that with brake, tire, and suspension modifications to match.

The Turbo Hyundais are the only cars that I know of that can run on regular. It just limits boot and pulls timing if it "sees" a low octane fuel in the system.

As for Scoobies, they like a diet of fine, expensively refined high octane petrol.

To get turbo like performance out of most non-turbo cars that use regular fuel, you'd need a large V6 or V8 that probably use even more gas. So it's going to cost you either way - premium or regular gasoline.

Do not run regular fuel on it unless you want it to run really bad and possibly throw a cel.

Don't do anything to modify the engine unless you have the means to get it tuned. Turbo Subarus are very picky about this. You could get away with a catback exhaust, but that is it. Even a cold air intake is not especially safe without a tune.

And don't run it on regular fuel...ever.
