Am I the only one with these window scratches

So 3 out of 4 of my windows have these scratches going down them and i hate the way it looks. I figure the little foam bumper deal in the door failed and is now slowly scratching the glass. I know this because my 2 month old tint is already scratched. So is this a common problem with other cars because my first legacy had the same problem. Also does anyone if these will come out of the glass or how to prevent further damage? if not i dont mind replacing the glass i just wont to have these scratches again.

the only way to stop them is replacing those little fabric guides generally they trap dirt and sand creating a sandpaper effect

Yea I figured so I guess im replacing 3 windows and thoses guides

Yep my drivers window has the same. I am going to tear it apart and replace before I tint.

So funny that this post just so happens to pop up...


I had barely noticed this for a while now but after I took my door panel off to install new speakers... some more dirt/grit must have gotten in there because now my drivers window is scratched to hell in that area.

I was going to replace with a used window and replace the pads with new ones before I tint as well.

$35 per window at specialized parts planet subaru... I might get a heated windshield while I am at it for $50... if I can find one that looks good.

Yeah happens to me in the front but not that bad lol yours is like holy crap lol

Yea I know mine are horrible and make my car look awful not to mention that its not just in the center but also on the edges where another guide is. So I need to replace 3 windows and all my guides just to be safe.

ok so does subaru make these guides new or is it more of a DIY thing where i take the old one foam off and replace it with something from autozone/ace hardware. ive been looking all over subarupartsdepartment.com and i cant seem to find them listed anywhere.

I need to do this to both my cars, the way I'm looking at it these little pads should last another ~10 years just like the stock ones did...

I agree i would rather buy the new pads than do the modified version i just hate that i have to replace all 4 of my windows

Well each window has at least 3 pads... if not 4... so be prepared to spend a ton in addition to new windows.

yea i know im ready for the price, i dont trust myself to put that "fur" on wit super glue but i know i can swap the pads out no problem

I HATE these scratches! They were on my wrx too. Sorry for everyone elses pain but I am glad to know I'm not the only one. So if I decide to eventually fix this, anybody have an idea as to how long until they come back?

My guess is that it depends on how dirty you keep your car and how often you roll the windows down. If you keep your car in a garage, wash it every Sunday, and never roll the windows down except for the occasional speeding ticket that we get in our cars you should be good for several years. However if you never wash your car, keep it outside, and get fast food 7 times a week then the scratches will probably start again 8-12or months. But hey that's just a guess

Every 2nd gen I see has this going on. Maybe tint will cover it up?

Nope it only scratches the tint, I found this out the hard way after I spent nearly $200 on 15% tint.
