That engine (EJ205DX*BE, where '*' depends on the year) is the same as the A/T '01 GGA (WRX wagon). I don't know if that information helps your decision, but that's all I can provide....
That info pertains to Japanese models, NOT North American models. Although I wonder what the engine code for the North American '02-'03 A/T WRX wagon is....

No it is not....
The engines that were on the STI ver IV were (EJ20KDW6PR, EJ20KDW6PJ); E model WRX were (EJ20KDW6HE, EJ20KDW6HD); STI ver V/VI were (EJ207DW1PR, EJ207DW1PJ; and the F/G model WRXs were (EJ207DW1KD, EJ207DW1KE). The main difference between the two engines in a set being whether or not it had A/C.

thanks.so the Forester 99 ST/b STi ej205 is different from the 99WRX and STI?? in terms of design, not forged pistons and all that...just basic design, sensor positions bolt patterns etc etc. i thought the EJ20K were done and over with in 97. with the coil pack in the middle of the manifold. well i want to know if the heads in this will flow better than my HLA EJ20G. since i have a long block sitting, that i want to slap my legacy manifold and vf12 turbo and z4 ecu.
