Ok so the day has come for me to wire my JDM fogs...

I want one of the two bulbs (on each side) to light up with my running lights/JDM side markers... which come one before my low beams (first click on the headlight switch) and the other bulb to light up when I press the fog light switch.

I am first wondering which light I should have as my running light... the projector or the 35w reflector? Also, If I want the bulb that is controlled by the fog light switch to be an actual fog light color (amber or yellow) which would be better for the actual fog? The reflector or the projector? I know I can get PIAA extreme fog light bulbs for the projector if needed... but is the projector better in the fog then the reflector?

Based on which setup I agree on... I am then wondering which wire I tap into to have my lights turn on with the rest of my city lights BUT NOT BLINK WITH TURN SIGNALS.

I am ok with wiring but I have never used a relay and am kind of foreign to what they are actually used for.

a relay is used to to allow a wire with not a lot of amps/power going through it to turn on something that needs a lot of amps/power. So in your case you are using a small wire (only draws like 2-3 amps max) like one for one turn signal as the trigger to turn BOTH of your 55+ watt foglight bulbs (draws 10 amps or more) via a relay.

If you try to use the small wire to directly power the foglights, you either trip a fuse, burn out your wire, cause an electrical fire, or all of the above.

I was under the impression that those JDM foglights are dual beam - one fog, one driving. If that isn't the case, usually its the reflector thats the city light (wire that to the parking lights), the projectors are for actual lighting.

Lastly, using a relay, you use one of the interior lights that lights up with the parking switch as a trigger to turn on your city lights...no blinking with turn signals. I've used the illumination for the foglight switch.

So with that in mind... would a yellow bulb in the projector be more useful for fog then a yellow bulb in the reflector?

Thank you so much for the insight... you helped more than you know.

the reflectors look great with orange 1156 bulbs as running lights. thats what I have. Not many cars have running lights in the lower bumper

What about yellow H3 bulbs for the fogs??? Not full time, but just when I am expecting foul weather.

i run 4300k HIDs behind yellow lensed projectors. if u buy h3 yellow bulbs you wont increase the brightness much. the yellow coated bulbs diminish the light, they are for looks. put good hids behind them or regular h3 bulbs for best performance

The problem with running HID's in the projector is changing from a white to amber color...

If I go HID with anything... it will be with low beams in the projectors AND the high beams in the projectors...

I know that the reflector High Beam will throw light all over the place... but that is what I want. I only really use my high beams on dark back roads at night... so having light go everywhere would be a plus... I want that DRASTIC lighting effect when I switch from HID low beams to HID Highbeams with HID low beams
