OK, I have a BG Outback and want to lower it. I know I can do the WRX thing but I dont want to. I want to keep my outback struts for the extra tire to spring perch clearance (since the spring perch is mounted higher on the OB strut). My question is; Can I use lowering springs from a Impreza, whether they be GC or GD and if so, what will work? I know that King makes OB specific springs but I am not paying a retarded amount for springs and then a retarded amount to have them shipped to me.
So does anyone know ( not think, or have heard) that this will or will not work?

I can't see a reason why they wouldn't work, but you may have to use the tophats that match the springs. I know if you are going with a GD WRX springs, you will need the rear tophats definitely that match the year, and the front upper spring perches.

So the consensus is that I would need spring isolator/ seats and strut mounts for it to work?

Your going to blow your struts very quickly. Seeing as how they'll be mostly compressed all the time. May even end up bottoming them out on hard bumps/ pot holes.
Just something to keep in mind.

^^ how is he going to blow the strut? If the spring perch is just mounted higher, and the body of the strut is longer, then ceteris paribus...
Any strut paired with a lowering spring is going to be compressed more, for longer than a non-lowered spring.

Agreed and well stated. Using a lowering spring on WRX struts will be under the same conditions and they seen to work well enough.
The only difference in what I am doing and what everyone else does it that I will still have enough room for a bigger tire/wheel combo than most which means my speedo will be correct.
