Well I just noticed that my temp. gauge doesn't work. In the winter when the engine was cold it would read in the middle. And this past weekend I thought my engine was overheating, but the needle was in the middle again! Not sure what to do next. Also, I have a spare cluster I bought from a junkyard that had some light up gauges, but I took off the needles to get the lights off. Is there a way to find out where the needles sit? If so I'll just take out the temp gauge from the spare, and put on the light up gauges on my original cluster. Lemme know what I should do?

What?

It reads in the middle? That's normal

no its goes straight to the middle when it starts up and the engine is cold. Shouldnt it read cold when its first fired up?

Yes it should be right at the bottom and slowly rise to just below the half way mark.

You can assume its the cluster but honestly I have never come across a faulty cluster. Its usually the sensor like COOLANT temp sensor that sits under the intake manifold on the coolant cross pipe.

Thats not a definitive answer but it is a good place to start.

You can always swap out your cluster with the spare you have and try running your original temp gauge. Its a few screwed to remove completely. Nothing to hard.
