So I just bought a JDM bumper and bumper beam... It will be a week or two until I get the bumper painted to match my car. I am wondering if I can swap the bumper beams for now and throw my USDM bumper on the JDM beam...

I already cut my USDM bumper to fit the JDM fogs so that shouldnt be an issue... I am just wondering if the black bumper beam and styrofoam attach to the JDM bumper beam... or if I even need it.

Why bother? If you currently have a USDM bumper + beam, why not just leave those on until the bumper is sprayed? Are you just trying to run the fogs or something? Id say just wait, its more work then its worth. You will end up breaking clips, then need to buy some new fasteners from subaru / another place if you can find them (think I just saw a thread).

I dont think you can, seeing as how you cant put a jdm bumper on a usdm beam.

Yea I made the thread with the cheap clips.

I also found them at Napa for $5 for 7 of them.

Yea I would really like to run my fogs... but I guess I will wait.

Or I will just keep driving around without a front bumper and just a beam with fogs and headlights

Update:

So you can officially put a USDM bumper skin on a JDM bumper beam. There is no foam though and it wants to push the headlights up about 1/8 of an inch... but it fits just fine.

The only issue is that there are no bumper pin locations for under the bumper beam like how the USDM bumper skin/beam has a ton of them not only on the top of the bumper, but below by the license plate as well.

JDM bumper is ligher then the USDM version. The crash ratings for Japan are much lower then North America so there is no reason for them to add the foam and extra clips.

The best replacement for the bottom clips is a front mount intercooler :-D

The USDM bumper beam is WAY heavier than the JDM bumper beam... FYI. Probably by a good 10 pounds or more.

So I am now running with my USDM bumper and grill on a JDM bumper beam with fogs mounted.

The JDM bumper SKIN is much lighter then the USDM version

Hmmm... I guess I didnt notice that... They felt about the same to me... I mean, they are both roughly the same shape, size and made of the same material right?

How did those napa clips end up working for you?

Eh... I will opt to buy the threaded Philips head ones online next time.

They worked fine but they arent really reusable...
