Hello

I have a little mystery here. My OEM Radio (Panasonic P117) for 95 Legacy Brighton was working fine but now it has no sound.

It does not tune, it does not accept cassettes. Lighting works and so does clock.

Mysteriously, a few days ago it worked intermittently when driver door was open, but as soon as I close it would stop working. This led me to believe it was a fuse. A fuse was actually burnt for interior lighting. I changed it and now my interior lights work but radio does not work at all, not even when I open the door.

So my options are:

1: Bad wiring in front doors causing a bad ground

2: Bad wiring harness behind radio

3: Bad radio

Any ideas?

Thank you

Have you pulled the radio out and check the fuse on the back? Most OEM decks have a fuse either mounted on the backside or on a cable going to the radio harness.

Simplest thing to do is to check your harness with a nother radio. Any subaru radio will plug in to your harness without modifications.

Removing your radio should take 10 mins when done properly.

Its rare for a radio harness to short out or malfunction but its common for fuses to cause these types of issues.
