Well ive had some whine which I found out is a bad wheel bearing on my 97 legacy gt. Im going to replace them using the fwd bearing remover from harbor freight. Now the question is, can you get the bearing out without removing anything but the hub, strut bolts, and axle? Reason im asking is because I have a torn cv boot and while researching I read that people change axles by just disconnecting the strut bolts. One more thing, could the axle itself be whining and not the bearing? Its gotten louder this past week(about same time as the boot went.) I got no wheel wobble with tire off the ground.

Is it all the time while driving? Through corners?
I had a small issue with my lower ball joints when I first got my Leggy. When I cornered It would grind and the problem was the ball joint would flex against the back plate. Which I thought it was the wheel bearing but it wasn't.
You could pretty much remove the whole knuckle from the car by removing the 2 strut bolts, lower ball joint, tie rod end, cv axle nut, and brake caliper. So you add 2 things removed which aren't very hard to uninstall and you have your knuckle out to play with. Which will reduce the amount of stress you place on your axle while trying to take it out with the knuckle still attached to the lower ball joint.

well i have a constant whommmmm and whom whom whom noises around 40mph. its in all gears N,D,D2,D3 i dont know about reverse because i dont do 40 in reverse. I do have a clunking noise sometime and a weird thump noise when i hit bumps with right front tire. Also, car seems to want to turn right sometimes when i hit the brake, but sometimes it wants to go left. And it almost always fights me at low speeds when turning and hitting a bump or pothole.
Edit:
I checked and I have no play or anything in the front, but I did notice the passenger side boot on tge steering rack is torn and must have been for a while. Could the steering rack be responsible for the fightung stering? Car is kinda wobbly on the highway, expecially in wind.

How recently have you serviced your brakes? a dragging caliper or even a loose one can cause problems. The torn boot is bad, it's allowing contaminants to get into the bearing/joints.

Right front caliper is dragging and will be fixed tomorow. Looks like its draging on the inner part of the disk closest to bearing

Only has movement and noise when I move the tire like it would normaly steer. Steering is unlocked in the video so its not just a locked rack.

I was having a really annoying sound lately as well. I thought it was my wheel bearing (which is just starting to go it has play in the wheel) but no noise from it yet. So I found out my brake pads where they rest on the brake clips were screeching. I forgot to put brake grease on there.
Yesterday I took it all apart and re-greased the caliper and all is well.

The grinding was front right caliper. Shaking is the tire rods I believe.
