Windshield Washer Low Fluid Light

Hi everyone,

This is my first topic since I joined SLI not too long ago.

I have a '06 Legacy BL sedan limited and I've been looking around forums, topics and even in my user manual in the car to know if there's a low fluid light for the windshied washer fluid. Depending on how the sunlight hits my dash, I can see that there's the logo for that on my dashboard, but I've had the car for 5 years now, ran out of fluid numerous times and never had that logo lit up. Is it an option that I forgot to take? Do I just have a blown fuse? Is the dashboard made for more than one model and it doesn't exist on my Legacy model? Anyone can give me a pointer here?

Have you checked your washer bottle for a level indicator, in the bottle?

Not yet. Wanted to run a quick check on the forum to see if people had ideas before starting to take stuff appart to check if I actually had a sensor in the bottle.

No need to take anything apart. Just shine a flashlight down there. It'll be in the middle, on the bottom of the bottle.

So I checked the tank like you said Huffer. The only thing I can see down there is the opening to the tubing that brings the fluid to the 2 sprayers. I didn't see any floats or something that looked remotely like a sensor down there, unless Subaru has another way of mesuring the level of liquid in the tank. Any toughts?

Looks like it's not an equipped option on the Canadian/US cars mate!

Thanks Huffer. I have to agree with the guy on the LegayGT forum, for the price we pay for these cars, the light would have been a nice add-on especially with our Quebec winters ;) I'll have to live with pulling on the side of the road and filling up when I run out in winter I guess. For the moment, after 5 years of driving it, I think this and the small rattle probably cause by the heat shield on the exhaust are probably the only 2 downside I had. All in all, I think my subby was my best buy yet. Legacy L ftw :)

You know what, you should pioneer a 2ndary tank that will automatically top-up the main tank... OR take advantage of the wagon washer setup with the "rear" washer pump...
