exhaust questions

I have a few questions about putting on an exhaust .
1. What size is a stock sti muffler ?
2. What is a n/a non stock size 2.5 or 2.25 ? , I ask that due to having a Mazda protege5 . The magnaflow exhaust I ordered was 2.25 same as stock.

Stock STi muffler is 2.5" I think and stock NA size is under 2". 2.25" is a perfect upgrade for the NA scoobies. 2.5" may be a little too much but I have seen it work.

K thanks . It's between an sti muffler or vibrant street power with headers . I want it to be heard but not too loud.

You wont enjoy the sound of the STi muffler on your car.... unless you like metallic rasp sound.

^^ whatever. It's the midpipe that makes the difference. I'm running a resonated midpipe with an 05 STi axleback. Sounds great!

UEL header, a good HFC or two, a good resonator and a muffler, I wouldn't use a stock wrx or STi muffler but its your car and your money.

I'm using a stock WRX catback with an HFC and a UEL, and there is a bit of a rasp to it. I chalked that up to the headers not being wrapped.

I have an axle back MTB exhaust for an STi...it required some welding modifications to fit but it sounds nice and boxer-ish now!
