Has anyone done this? I've heard good and bad...mostly bad about pulling in more warm air from the engine bay. Thoughts?

I just did it and I like it...


Car runs at the same temp... is a little more "Exhausty" sounding and seems a little smoother through the power band.

I did it and then "un-did" it, I lost some low end and didn't have a smooth power-band when it was off, if you take it off it WILL screw with the MAF below 1800 running from super rich to super lean it's a well documented phenomenon caused by the way our intake is set up

I also swiss cheesed my air box...now it sounds superrrr dirty! In high ends it sounds like a sport bike (In a good way).

I did it and I really like it...No real power gain but did get more rumble in the exhaust.

I removed the silencer in the fender and replaced the intake tube with an older 2.2 intake without the giant "torque" box, which is incorrectly named IMO. Noticed absolutely zero difference in power or power delivery. Much more intake noise though.

Removing it made about the same amount of difference as it did on the PGT eh Kevin. :lol: A CAI made a much more noticable difference. :smt023

My car is a completely streamlined air system now...Took off all the other useless noise dampeners in the air flow system. Now I just need to decide if i wanna keep the holes open and cover them with meshing or if i should plug them. Thoughts anyone?

Does someone have a stock engine bay from a similar model to reference? Might help to show what I removed/deleted.
