I did some quick searching and I didn't find any recent discussions (old one here, from 2007) (https://sl-i.net/FORUM/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=5703) about oil preference...So lets start a new one.

I have been using Castro Syntec 10-30w with a Purolator filter.

I am always looking for something better. Been reading good things about the German Castro 0-30w on Nasioc.

I run Amsoil 10-40 full synthetic with the amsoil filter.

I also have the amsoil ATF in the tranny at the moment.

I was running Shell Rotella T6 5-40. I liked it during the winter. But over the past 3-4 days I was getting no power after 4k RPM's. It felt like it just fell flat on its face. So just last night I put 10w30 Royal Purple. It really livened the engine up.

I never knew an oil could do that.

seriously, I just get the stuff that has the best deal with in reason. I stay away from general no name brands and auto store brands (car quest, O'reilly's, ect). I just get the best deal between brands such as Castrol, Valvoline, Quaker State, ect. I change my oil every 3000 miles and any oil, even the general stuff really, will easily maintain your engine that long now a days with all the additives that are in it.

The oil filter is the same story, I just get a high quality one, i don't care about brand name that much.
