My friend bought some STI struts awhile back for his 04 WRX. He never put them on his car. He said they came off a GD STI. So 04-05. But for some reason he can't remember what year they came off of exactly. They may not even be STI struts. I looked at some pictures on google. 04 stuff (STI or WRX) have that same shape (by the bolts). 05 they look like they changed the design.
They are black and he can't find a part number on them. Any help? I thought 04 were red. Never black.

I used to run 06 WRX struts on my old BG wagon with STi springs, and they fit perfectly(using WRX tophats for the rear and Legacy front tophats). You should be fine with the 05.

05 STi struts have the 5x114.3 setup. 05 WRX I know will work. I just need to know what year this strut is from.

US GD goes to 02-07, whether its wrx or sti. Of course the sti started here in 04, but gd is just the chassis. The only help I can offer for you is check on nasioc or iwsti, or to try and bolt them up. If they work, they're 04. If not then it doesn't matter cause they won't fit. Best of luck.

If they are O.E struts, they will have a part number stamped into the lower part of the strut where they bolt onto the knuckle.
yeah factory 04's should be red. I just put a set in my OB not 30 minutes ago and they are a bolt in using the STI mounts.

^correct. 04 struts are red. Forgot I posted on here but I did some researching as someone wanted to trade me some 04 sti struts with eibachs and indeed they are red. Also as someone stated the oe part number would be stamped into the strut near the base. In fact I'm about to go outside and install them now. Tootaloo. Lol.
