keeps coming on everytime i get to a quarter tank..evap code....

its a 98 legacy gt..2.5na

any suggestions??

thats how i know its a evap code..seems weird only with quarter tank

The only way you can figure out what is really wrong is by testing each component of the EVAP system untill you find something that is wrong. It could be a sensor, solenoid, even a pin hole in any of the lines. There should be a list of everything and how to test it in the FSM.

Check the fuel filler neck where it goes through the wheel well. Dirt and junk collects between the shield and the filler neck and rusts it out, your may be just starting to leak. EVAP system will detect a leak down to .040" on a '98, so it could be a very small hole or split.

are you clearing it every time or does it go off when you refill it?

i have been clearing it and it usally comes back once i get to about a quarter tank again

Could be a bad gas cap as well

The fuel filler neck has a evap line built into it. These things rust like others have stated..

This is no easy task..... But it can be done for under $120 with parts as long as you have patients.
