Leaks?

I'm not a big smarty pants on cars but I do need help. Nothing really biggy or maybe it is but it bugs the poop out of me to see something leaking.
Anyone might know the situation here? Please help me. :( Photos taken from my Blackberry. Sorry if its a bit blurry.

Most likely the front main seal, not that big of a job. You'll want to replace the timing belt, the crank / cam seals, and inspect the idlers

That looks like coolant leaking as well.

Nice mechanic nails. Lol. I would agree on the coolant leak. Did you see any dripping on the ground or just that everything under the motor is saturated?

Thanks, TJ? Pretty nails huh? Haha. I was helping a poor guy out on his flat tire today, put a donut on and he was like, nails did and you have mechanical gloves, tools and such?! I was like yes! Haha.

Anyways, it could definitely be a coolant leak. Yes, it was dripping on the ground, right and left. It was irritating. Sometimes, I think its oil because the fact that I'm always running out of oil, always adding more and it makes that clicky sound when it's idling (when I know I'm low on oil).

in general subaru engines leak oil out of any place they can, but so long as you keep oil in them it never usually leads to a problem/failure (better than most hondas which always find a way to burn it). As a suggestion to help narrow down the potential problem areas i would recommend giving all the oily and dirty locations a good cleaning with some chemicals and then see what comes back fresh.

thats what a girls hand should look like, nice nails and oil lol. Id check your thermo gasket for the coolant, replace the thermo while your at it since it will be out. Could also be ( highly unlikely) power steering pump gasket. Those love to go out and you never know, could be that. Could also be a number of things way worse but fingers crossed its not

I'll do some cleaning on that and see how it goes.

Haha, honestly, this is like my third time, in a lifetime that I ever get my nails done. When I got this recently done for my performance, I told the lady that I normally don't do my nails cause my fingers ends up getting dirty! :smt023

x2 on the thermo gasket that people has told me but who knows. I guess I gotta give it a cleaning process and see how that goes.

Well do the smell test. Coolant smells very different from oil. Keep an eye out too on you coolant level. You may have to run the car up to temp look under the car and try and find a leak. I had a drip on my engine that got worse and worse then the water pump went. Not saying that is the case.

X2 on the front main seal.

The bottom of my motor is starting to look like that. When I clean it all off, a few days later a little bead of oil appears at the bottom of my timing belt shroud. Over time it looks like an oil bomb has exploded under the engine.
But to paraphrase StatGSR, we don't burn oil, we blow oil.
You really don't have to change the oil in an older Subaru, it just naturally blows out of the engine and you just fill it back up. I'm sort of kidding.

Link to said part? I need to do this as well I believe. I will get a timing belt kit and new rad hoses w/ thermostat. I was thinking about trying Evans coolant.
