I just brought home my new whiteline rear sway bar (12xz) and endlinks (KLC144) for my 2003 legacy wagon. thanks reason for the advice. very happy with my purchase.

The installation did not go as smoothly as i hoped. As i was taking off the pass side endlinks, I stripped the nut. Decided on cuting the end links off. It was a long and arduous process but I finally got them off and the whitelines on. after a day of driving i checked under the car and saw that the endlinks were positioned wierd. Its angled at the point where it attaches to the sway bar and brackets. you can see from the pictures

the gunk on the endlinks is just grease i put on

Is this normal? :-?

No problem! And they look fine... where the weird angle? And how was it before? Anyone have a pic of a stock set up?

Oh that MAY go on the outside on the endlink...

i believe its on the right side. i put it on exactly the way i took the old ones off. getting a clunk sound now when going over small bumps. sounds similar to when your shocks go out...but not as loud.

any ideas on how to correct this?

not a ball joint per say but most newer subies use them now. i'd take these over the plastic ones anyday. for the OP are both sides adjusted to the same length? look in your photos one of the nuts isnt tight not sure if pics were taken when done or during install though. but make sure both sides are equal and both lock nuts are tight.

your talking about the first picture right? these are installed photos. i definitely tightened them before i put them on. I guess they loosened up during the install. wow i didn't even realize until you pointed it out. ill correct that once all this rain stops..

could that be a reason why i'm getting the "clunking" sound?

ya my solids worked loose on the rear swaybar and I got a clunk, tightened them and its all good.

That could be the reason. Checzk like dodik said andmake surer both are the proper length and check all bolts. Usually when I do a mod like this I always go back and tighten things after driving around a bit. After you do that and drive around check it again just invade. Also make sure the sway bar isn't positioned differently and hitting something.

oh and if it keeps loosening put a lock washer in there or threadlock it.

Use a locknut.

i looked at the endlinks the other day and one side was completely detached! i quickly put them back together and tightened them. afterwards.....no clunking or sound. thanks guys

thats the right orientation, you need to lock the heim joints down with the locknut as you did. May want to use some threadlock as well.

Pic of mine for reference. (its a different endlink but its similar enough).
