prodrive wheels

so when I picked up my bumper the previous owner offered to trade my RS 6 spoke wheels and tires for his gold Prodrive wheels (don't know what kind of wheel they are, just that their prodrive). I'm wondering if this is worth driving about 2 hours. The tires are ok but I'll have to get new ones by the end of summer. If anyone could photoshop the wheels on that would be awesome.

Don't do a trade - unless you have proof that the Prodrive wheels are straight and true. ie. take them to a balancer and have them tested.
I've seen RS wheels be sold for $200 before, and as high as $500 to morons. If you don't want to trade, offer him $350 for the set, knowing that you'll eventually drop $5-700 on tires.

I reason that $350 for the prodrives is a decent offer as you indicated a trade.

Buying them outright is another matter - there's a fella here on NASIOC trying to sell the same model Prodrives (P7) for $650 with bad tires:

I've recently found out how careful you've got to be with used rims. I recently sold Zac a set of prodrives that I was running (Look just like the ones in my avatar) because I've got 2 sets. The set I sold him had a curbed rim that he was aware of, and was planning on fixing. This was factored into the price. What we found out later is that, it wasn't just curbed, it wasn't true - it wobbled like crazy. I didn't know or notice when I'd had them on my car(s), or I never would have sold them like that. I don't know how much it's costing him extra, doesn't sound like much over 25.00 more than it would have cost me for just the curbing damage, but this is just a lesson to me that you've really got to be careful with used rims. You may be buying from a guy you feel is a decent chap (like I feel I am! :D) but he may not even be aware that there is a serious issue with them. Thankfully in Zac's case, it wasn't much more, and I'm willing/offering to pay the difference of what we'd expected the fix to cost.

When a wheel gets curbed because of a mishandled slide, that means it was HIT against the curb. Not just dragged or scrubbed during parking. HIT.

The Stock RSs look hot on the car. He maybe knows that you are an educated Subaru owner, not an idiot who thinks that Prodrive wheels will turn him into a rally legend and his car into a fire-breathing WRC beast.

Ok as I read more about the possible damage I'm thinking he knows they're messed up and he's trying to pawn them off on you. You'd have to buy new tires, and get a wheel fixed so it's really not that great. I'd hold off on it, especially if he seems to have disappeared.

yeah, just re-reading this - I curbed my wheel from a stop. Er, maybe I should explain:
Stopped at a red light, then proceeded to turn right, GPS fell off and ended up on the passenger side (left) and I reached over to grab it as it fell. (I don't think we have a facepalm smiley here, or I'd use it right now). I scrubbed the curb, and I'd guess perhaps doing 20 to 30 Kph max, scraped a good 10 to 12" of the rim (insert another facepalm here) My rim was damaged from this. I've not drifted into a curb for about 10 years.

If this guy drifted a rim into a curb, it's gonna be done up pretty good I'd think, if mine was just from a scrub.

The curb rash on the rim itself didnt look bad at all but idk if it would balance right.
