Sweet ride you got there mate. The N/A 2.0L's, are they SOHC or DOHC?

I love the UK and your terms for things. "Induction Kit" "spats" "backbox"

I used to rule the roost over on Imprezasport.net...

DarkPhoenix its a SOHC.

Huffer, ur Impreza looked well when u sold it. What do you guys call an induction kit and a siliencer?

And can someone fully explain to me what a 'Ricer' is?
I'm guessing its what we call a 'boy racer'. Basically shit car, loud exhaust, stupid bodykit, thinks he looks badass

Or as I have always known them as Chavs!!!

lol 'Chavs' is a common word in the UK now. My girlfriend is from the North East (Newcastle) and she calls them 'Chavas'.

Anyway, back to the car.

I've just ordered a Whiteline rear ARB and front upper strut brace, they should be here next week.
Also booked it into a local Subaru specialist for a service and just about to book it into an exhaust fabricator for a new backbox. - More Money to spend!

Also last night I fitted my new front number plate, looks alot better for it (even tho I cracked the sodding thing bolting it to the car :smt013 )

Huffer

Should have bought the whiteline quick release REAR strut brace. The front one you can grab from any GC/GF/BD/BG/BK/BH/BE Subaru...

Huffer do you have a link to the brace? I dont want anything high up as I'll regularly be having the seats down with loads of fishing gear / bikes in.

Here's a few pictures I took this evening, the car isn't clean but it helps hide the poor quality of the paint lol.

Oh you'll definitely want it. You'll notice the difference FAR more than with a front strut brace. And with it being quick release you won't even care if you are running loads.

The Whiteline is simply just a standard brace but with the quick release bolts just like what Legacy89 posted. The design is basically the same as the locking mechanism on the majority of bicycle seats.

Here's a link for a Whiteline QR Rear Strut Brace. This one won't fit the BE/BH chassis. If you can find the right bolts, you can just replace the ones that come with the non-release brace.

Edit:
And here are the bolts by themselves:

YamazakiSubaru I'll get some pics of the interior up soon, there's nothing really exciting in there tbh.

I'll have a look into the rear brace later today.

Only thing i have seen that is different in a better way than the US models is the dual cupholders for the rear passengers and heated seats.
Nothing special, no doorlights, doorsills etc.

Greavesy
05-26-2011, 07:48 AM
I dont have heated seats as there just fabric ones, my old BH with Lux pack had heated seats.

My floor mats arrived today, a nice and easy job to do tonight! lol

Also, has anyone ever bought one of these?

Lol.

I've owned 2 civic's previously a 1.5 EG and a 2.0 EP3 type R - think u guys have it as an SI?
Neither were kitted up. my type R had an induction kit and an un-silenced B-pipe. It sounded crazy in vtec but was nice and quiet while driving 'normally'.

I'm deffo not a ricer tho! Lol

Cool! I like how the whiteline tower bar bends over the engine instead of up against the firewall. It looks way better that way I think. What engine is that? EJ202?

Greavesy
05-28-2011, 04:11 PM
Yamazaki it's an EJ201.

In the end I got bored so fitted the rear ARB, it's made a the car actualy 'go' round corners instead of rolling round them and it's on its softest setting, will try the stiffer setting tomorrow.

Update.

Well I had my backbox fettled with today (oh er misses!)
Went for a 4inch inwardly rolled tip and I think it looks spot on. Not much louder than standard but thats what I wanted.

Also recieved a Green panel filter (fitted no worries), a GT rear spoiler (needs spraying silver) and a new style Forester rear wiper. But after trying to fit it, it turns out the splined shaft is a different diameter on the Legacy . . . . COCK!
However, I've been thinking about it and I rekon I can get it to work.

Anyway have a pic!

https://sl-i.net/FORUM/images/imported/2011/06/SAM_05621-1.jpg

Once the spoiler and wiper is fitted along with a few other bits I'll get some decent pictures up.

Cheers

Andy

Did you do anything to the intake piping or did you just put the filter inn?

Just put the filter in for now. going to alter the piping soon and remove that big chamber.

I recently installed a Ram air intake, sound is a little more agressive, removes weight and makes it a little bit easier to clean the engine compartment.

Do you know when Top Gear is back on? I know it's supposed to be in June.

I bought some Inovit RD21's off Ebay last night so off to Stoke-on-trent to pick them up this morning.
For anyone who doesnt know what they look like, someone has beaten me to fitting them to a Legacy before so here's a pic.

Well when I picked up the alloys, there were a few marks and scuffs on them so I decieded to refurb them.

Here's a shot of one nearly finished below (still needs laquering and the centre cap doing)

Well yesterday I managed to replace my wing mirror, adjust the airbox pipework, get the alloys fitted and wash, wax and polish the car.
My lovely lady even helped me polish and wax the car, she did a great job on polishing up the rear light bar.

Here's a few pictures now the alloys are fitted.

AWESOME looking legacy! we are twins man. except i don't have those headlights or the side markers :(

You got a thread about ur Legacy?

P/N for the strut brace is KSB550

I fitted the brace along with a rear ARB and over all it made a huge different to the handling, it still rolls around corners a bit but feels alot more soild (if that makes sense). Im hoping the springs should get rid of the rest of the roll.

Wow, that didn't lower it as much as I thought it would, Usually there's not as much of a gap between the tire and the fender. It still looks good tho!

As for the knocking sound, are the new springs on your stock struts? My car may be doing something similar, and it started as soon as I put new springs on.

Greavesy
07-25-2011, 03:51 AM
Navi, yea its still on stock struts. I know what you mean about the height but it has lowered it at least 40mm already, Im hoping they settle futher to be honest. If it was alot lower I wouldnt be able to get on/off my drive.

Navi271
07-26-2011, 04:06 AM
They should settle slightly over the next couple weeks or months.

So I don't have stock struts but I know they're used pretty good. Had my car really low, no noise. Really high, no noise. Now I'm riding at a happy medium and there's a clunking, or knocking noise. Not always there but either comes from the front right or rear right strut I think. My car still handles great, so nothing is blown. But time will tell I guess.

This might be similar to the clunking sound that worn sti struts have. For that, all you need to do is take them apart, regrease them, and the noise is gone. Not sure if this actually is the problem tho.

Greavesy
07-27-2011, 03:46 PM
Well the cars already settled slightly and I've sorted the knocking noise, I hadn't tightened the top nut up enough on the front drivers side. . . fail.

Anyways,

Look what I found today. .
