1996 Subaru Legacy Overheating

My 1996 Subaru Legacy is overheating. I noticed leaking under my car but was told it was my radiator hose. I got my raditor hose and clamps replaced today and I still have overheating. What should be checked next?

You'll need to check that your thermostat is working. It's under the engine, at the end of your lower radiator hose. It's a good time to flush old coolant.

If your coolant is oily or foamy - then your head gaskets are leaking and allowing coolant/oil to mix together. You'll have to replace the HG's and do a timing belt change too.

so i am having the same problem. i just replaced the thermostat. it was working really good. i did a 4 hour drive and as soon as i got off the freeway it shot right up again.
my fans have never turned on from what ive noticed. how can i check them?

Bump. I pretty much have the same problem. Though, my collant is a bit low.

Fans should turn on if you turn on the A/C compressor.

Also, check to make sure all the air has been burped out of the cooling system. Yes, if your coolant is low then there is air in the system and you will overheat.
