View Full Version : JDM Projector, brights not so bright.

Is the bright supposed to be just the outside bulbs and not the projector as well? My brights are terrible it seems and I don't use them because the lows give more illumination.

I just pulled out my hids and put in some Hella h1 bulbs thinking it would solve the issue, but I didn't think about the h1 being single filiment as well... Any suggestions on how I can keep my projectors on with the brights?

The highs are just as bad on US and jspec headlights. My projectors give off more light than my highs. I believe there's a write up here on how to link both sets for highs.

I believe you just ground the the low beam wire on the factory harness and they should stay on when you turn on your highs.

Where'd you read that? I'd like to see some pictures and such if possible.

Thats exactly what you need to do.

If you built a jumper harness like me (so you dont have to cut the end off of your factory harness), then you just take the low beam wire that is coming out of the BACK of the JDM harness (the cut side of the pigtail that came with your projectors... meaning the end that was cut off of the JDM car when the lights were pulled) and run it up to one of the bolts that secures the headlights...

Or just take the Low Beam wire and cut it... then take the side that is still going to the headlight and ground it.

Both your high beams and low beams will come on when you flip your highs...

Ok thanks I'll have to get out there and check it out, I know my lights plug in via a harness so i assume Wes wired them up right.

Edit: ok I'm confused. I have no idea what you mean haha.

OK so after a bit of reading, from what I understand I take the yellow wire from the back of the JDM harness and disconnect it from whatever it's plugged into and ground it on the chassis?

Edit: I looked at the back of my lights and I'm pretty sure the OEM harness is gone and the wires are spliced into the JDM harness.

So then you are good to go... just cut the Low Beam wire and ground the side that is coming from the headlight.

Then what powers the light? I thought the wire would be connected to supply power to the lows?

I believe the lights are a grounded unit... or something to that affect... so it is backwards from what you are thinking...

I am not the one to explain because I suck at electical but...

On your factory harness...

You have a power wire and grounds for the highs and lows... you dont have two power wires...

So your lights are getting power from the one hot wire going in... and due to the switch in the USDM cars, the lowbeams turn off because they are not grounded when the highbeam is flipped... it alternates... So to keep them on... you just need to ground your lowbeams... they are "grounded" when they are on... so as long as you dont want to run your highbeams independent of your lowbeams... your all good.

Thanks so much man, I figured it out! Looks so much better now.

Side note: I also powered up my City Lights and what a waste of electricity... I think I'm going to find me some LED's for the citys and throw in an H3 HID for the brights :D
