Cruise light

I was driving last night, got to a red light, as I was waiting for it to turn green my check engine light started flashing. As I started driving at the green light it went off. Then this morning as I was on my way to work my check engine light went on just not flashine along with my cruise light started flashing and hasn't stopped. Any ideas or has that happened to anyone with the cruise light flashing along with the check engine light on?

First, what car and what year? Second, go get it scanned at an Autozone or Oreilly, they do it free and you can find out what the code is. There are a few codes for cruise control:

its an 06, autozone said was something with the 3rd cylinder misfiring. I live in Wisconsin and gas up here contains ethenol, and that is most likely the cause. That's what he said at least. Does that make sense?

That does not explain the cruise control light, but it would explain the CEL.
For the record practically all gas contains ethanol, but in colder places they add more of it, especially in winter. Ethanol burns very cleanly but it burns very slowly, and as you can imagine, that is different from gasoline which burns very very quickly. Dont know what to tell you besides maybe change your spark plugs to get a slightly better spark and hopefully avoid the occasional misfire.
