02 WRX Struts vs 04 WRX Struts

So. Is there any difference between the 02 WRX struts and springs vs 04 WRX struts and spring?
I know it will work and bolt up the same. I seen only one difference in the tophats on NASIOC (http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/showthread.php?t=563382)

I ask this because I have a set of 02 WRX and I know of deal where some 04 WRX might just be getting wasted on a wreaked car just so it can be moved. I've been offered a straight up swap for my 02 for a set of 04.

I plan on running with one of these with stock springs and then maybe later switching the spring.

I believe they were the same from 01-07. Mine look no different from the 02 Wrx struts I had and sold.

The only difference would be one is newer then the other. If you have a chance to swap out for lower mileage struts I say go for it.

Actually the tophats are different. I had the same issue on my FXT springs. Being they were from an 07, I had to use tophats from an 04-07 for them to work. The spring tops are actually narrower on the top.

Ok...So if i was planning later on swapping out the springs for something that will lower me....Which would be a better strut to use (with more spring options). 02 or 04

Either strut will work fine. You just have to make sure you have the tophat that matches the spring. I think the 04s were a little stiffer than the 02s, but don't quote me on that.
