i have got my hands on a ACT streetlight flywheel that was meant for a ej255 that was supossed to go in my forester xt,

what are the chances of this bolting up to my ej22 in my postal wagon?

any thoughts

The flywheel will bolt to any EJ-series motor . However the transmission and clutch you use is ment for a PUSH setup not a PULL like the EJ255/WRX/XT motors...

.

I am going to say no it wont work... but I am not built of truth and facts .. only interwebs and personal experience.

with chuck on this, not sure if the WRX would be differant, but if you can confirm that the WRX/FXT and 2.5RS use the same Flywheel, then i would feel better about saying that it could work on a 2.2.

well here is the link for ACT 02 WRX flywheel no. 600175

http://www2.advancedclutch.com/1378773/ ... _FI_(EJ205 (http://www2.advancedclutch.com/1378773/0/0/0/2002_SUBARU_IMPREZA_WRX_H4_2.0L_T_FI_(EJ205)).html

the flywheel that I have here is number 600175,

here is the link to a 98 2.5rs, no. 600185

http://www2.advancedclutch.com/1317353/ ... _FI_(EJ25D (http://www2.advancedclutch.com/1317353/0/0/0/1998_SUBARU_IMPREZA_RS_H4_2.5L_N_FI_(EJ25D)).html

so maybe no go on this one

from my understanding the thing that is different with push vs. pull is the throw out bearing on the pressure plate.

so theoretically I could get a push style PP and clutch that works for my cars transmission and as long as the push style pressure plate bolt hole line up to the bolt holes in the FXT flywheel I have now, .... it should work

the actually clutch disc will work, legacy disc is 225mm and FXT is 228, ..... wait I minute what size is the 2.5rs ..... (searching)

.... 2.5rs is 225mm also, so maybe the difference in part number for the 2 flywheels (600175 and 600185) is that the FXT flywheel just has 3mm more of contact area.

Meaning that you can use a FXT flywheel on a Legacy but not a Legacy Flywheel on a FXT

Sounds like a lot of potential for things to go wrong just to save a few bucks in the short term.

well yes and no, Im manual swapping my car so I have to buy a PP and disc anyways, so I buy those first and see if they bolt up to my FXT flywheel, if they do, ... great! if they dont ill just buy the correct flywheel.

Im not losing money and I not gaining money, I originally bought the flywheel for my FXT but never got around to putting it in, and now 1.5 years later my wife and I are selling it, so I have a flywheel laying around. If the PP doesnt bolt on to the FXT(larger) flywheel then I m just back to doing what I was originally going to do.

Also 1 gen legacy owners have been using WRX flywheels (which are a 3mm larger) on the legacy all the time.
