'98 BK Wagon Turbo

I am not trying to take the easy way here. I felt like buying a Honda CBR900RR last night...Which means I need to go much faster that I can presently. I want to make my car faster and I bet that means dumping in a turbo motor, since my venerable 2.5 has 145K on it and could easily step aside and make way for this project. What can I/ should I do since this car is well worth the transplant? Advice. Insight. Opinions are welcomed. Please, and thank you. I have good knowledge of mechanical and electrical operations, also..So once again, thank you.

Hows you budget on the car. You could build a 14 second car or a 11 second car. It all depends on money.

About 2G's. At the most...Allowing for incidentals. I will be doing the labor and wiring and having the exhaust done by my friend Ryan. I want this "swag-in" to dip out when I mash the go pedal. I know I will need to upgrade the fuel delivery, and fab some exhaust, but what are your ideas. Thanks for the prompt reply.

I don't think you can have a reliable turbo swap for $2k. I have that in just the engine (that I rebuilt myself). Maybe you could if you could find a wrecked WRX and sell all the non needed parts... it's the little things that add up in a big way...

Yea man my old ads Svx swap would of been more than 2,000 without the part out. Engine alone from a Wrx is going to be 1,000-1500. Like Mike-tracy said take that 2000 and but a parts car. Then part out the rest.

Well, nothing is ever really as it seems. I will probably faithfully continue to mod and maintain this super-roo as it is one of the better cars I have owned. I would love to see it achieve "fast greatness" even if it was in someone elses hands. Kinda miss my Jeep, even if this thing is rockin. Thank you for all the insight guys.

There's tons and tons of information out there for DIY turbo'ing the N/A 2.5. There's a lot of the 2.5RS guys with DIY setups; check RS25.com, and the NASIOC aftermarket FI section.

The only way I can think of to try to do it for that amount of money is to buy a crashed WRX and part out all the stuff you don't need. If you could find a car for about $2500, sell about $2000 worth of parts, use what you need and have $1500 for other stuff you're gonna need to buy, then you might make it work.

swaps seem to be around $3k for a "stage II" level. Then you need to start thinking about transmissions. How much horsepower do you think you want? That is going to determine what you should spend. You can probobly get 200whp for less then $2k. 225-250whp is going to cost around $3k. Any more then that you need to work with a 2.5L so those are about $4k+
