Well as you may have seen on my cardomain page I had a section with my Dads '02 300M SE, unfortunately (or fortunately, however you look at it) some kid hit him head on and totalled the car, he wasn't injured just real sore, the kid hit him and he spun into a telephone pole, the kids car bounced back and caught on fire (little older nissan sentra). I guess the kid just got insurance 2 days prior too...pretty beat. Here's some pics of the wreck:

Even cracked one of those beautiful 18" rims...

So my Dad was dead-set on getting one of the new 300C's, but after going to 5 dealerships, none of them took the time to find him a car, so after 30 years of owning chrysler/dodge vehicles, he got his first imported car, an '05 Infiniti FX35 with the technology and touring packages, the things pretty sharp. It has navigation with a decent sized LCD screen that when its in reverse shows what the camera mounted just below the rear bumper sees, the thing even has nightvision, as well as color-coded lines to tell you the path of travel and how far you are from the object behind you. Here's some pictures:

He loves it, the thing is loaded to the brim and it costs less than the 300C with all the same options...even has satellite radio...pretty crazy. HID high/low beams which you can adjust the level on the dash, all LED brake lights, 18" wheels (the wheels/tires are $900 each...yikes), and the maintenence program is crazy. All oil changes are free, when they service your car for anything they pick it up from your house, leave you with a brand new Infinity loaner car (even a G35 coupe!)...Chysler gave him a Hyundai..., and they wash and wax your car after each service. The first tune-up isn't until 115,000miles...pretty nuts. He's glad they couldn't find him a new 300, he's finally caught the import fever, lol.

Nah, there both company cars so he wasn't too bummed about the 300M going. I wish he got a picture of the part of the sentra that caught on fire. As far as me driving the Infinity...we'll see. The thing sounds pretty crazy, he can't realllllly beat on it yet until he hits 2000 miles or something like that, has to bring it back to the dealership to get every fluid in the car flushed and changed, then I'll let you know...but from his "moderate" acceleration demonstrations thus far it gives you a little kick in the seat. Full report to come after the greenlight is given.

Your dad has stellar taste in cars. Well, as of late. I am anamoured with Infiniti's designs lately. Mmmm, I would have liked to have seen him get the FX45 with the V-8. Infiniti's V-8s are insane.

Although, if not the FX, but Infiniti, I would take the new M45 Sport. That thing is drop dead sexy and has been winning comparison tests in almost all the enthusiast mags. 335hp V8, all wheel steering, rear wheel drive, active headlamps, sick sick sick Bose radio setup and some of the sexiest OEM wheels ever.

I looked into getting one (yes recently; which would have meant doing away with the project) but insurance for the fully loaded model (~$55k) it would cost $5200/year for insurance alone. No thanks.

Finally, glad to see your ol' man is okay. He definitly stepped it up a notch with the choice of Infiniti though. Infiniti cars are some of the top designs rolling on todays roads. Period.

Yeah I was telling him to go for the 45, or at least the sport package on the 35 (get the 20" wheels, tuned suspension, tinted headlights/tails, chrome accents, etc.) but he didn't want another stiff suspension like he had on his last 300M, I'm telling him that if he's saying that he's starting to get old! He wanted the 35 because it was cheaper (how he got it still goes for $50,000...the 45 was only a bit more, but enough to help make the decision, plus he didn't want another V8...his Durango's got the 4.7V8, things are gas hogs. I'll have to snap a shot of the rotors he's got on that thing, something like 14" or something, you'll see...theyre huge.

Speaking of V8 Infiniti's, my friend just bought a Q45 all port and polished from another one of my friends cousin. Damn that thing hauls ass.

I had an Fx35 as a rental once for work and it was one of the most comfortable rides I've had. I would buy one in an instant given the chance!
