so i cant really pin point what the noise is but my engine seems to be making what sounds like an exhaust leak but i already sealed up my exhaust very well. ive heard it from other ej25s also, anybody else notice this shitty noise?

Do you have headers?

If so, its due to the very thin wall of the header tubes. Wrapping them helps, but won't eliminate it.

My original manifold made a similar noise, but quieter.

yeah i have ebay unequal length headers, although it still made the sound with stock headers.
ill try header wrap then

Mine makes the same noise. I thought I failed to get the flange tight enough at first. I have OE manifolds and I still hear it on mine.

Mine makes the annoying leak sound too. I may try to wrap them too

Did any of you wrap your headers and did it get rid of the noise?

He wrapped the headers and it got rid of 99% of the sewing machine noise. With his basically straight pipe setup, it sounds really deep and mean.

I wrapped mine, and I'd say it reduced the noise by about 50%. Its still there, but noticeably quieter.

Man that sound annoys the hell out of me! :smt013 would you wrap it again if given the chance? and MrLancaster, did you ever wrap yours?

I wrapped mine, and the only time I really notice the sound is like mentioned above, when driving next to a wall, or other noise reflecting surface. However, even 5 months later it still grates on my nerves to hear it (though I doubt anyone else notices or cares). Personally I think it sounds similar to the 'tick' you hear at TDC on a Harley-Davidson (which I also don't care for).

So you wrapped your's and it still made that sound? I didn't wrap mine and it's loud, did it quite it at all? :smt012

I couldn't tell you definitively, I coated and wrapped mine before I put them on the car. However, I have heard from various other users that it does quiet the "tick" within the cabin.

Ive never heard the tick in the cabin, I only hear it when I have my front windows down....which is almost never because of that noise. :(

The BE/BH chassis is much quieter overall than the BD/BK/BG. By a lot.

This is interesting, I always thought I had a rattle somewhere in the exhaust, and it was driving me nuts not knowing where it was coming from.

I was really beginning to wonder if my exhaust valves were going bad or something...

Ok I was reading this and just had to chime in. I also have ebay uel headers. Now after a bit of a fight to get on I finally did and then realized the header was 2.25inches and my cat was 2 inches which caused leak do to the over lap from the larger header.it sounded like a turbo wastegate when at full throttle. After fixing it theirs a faint whistle but that's about the only odd sound but very faint.

Unless you have cracked headers and a entirely broken cat system you guys can all shut up.

I think most of us are pretty competent mechanics and would know if we had those OBVIOUS problems...and having done a smoke test with mine says I'm not retarded so thanks but no thanks for your help.
