I was almost certain that the engine had a bad rod bearing because of the knocking that it produces but when I turned the car on today & moved it, I noticed a change in knocking pitch. It wasn't anywhere near as loud as it normally was before. The knocking usually happens when I start the car & almost disappears until I bring it to about 2500 rpm, then it knocks the loudest.
Today, I brought the engine to 4000 rpms & the knocking completely went away. When I brought the engine back down, the knocking came back at the expected 2500 rpms then lessened between that point & idle, where it can still be heard but nowhere near as much. Now I'm thinking that it might not be the bearings. Does anyone know what it might be? I've searched the internet & nothing has shown up to what I'm describing.
