I was hoping to add some extra lighting to my car as I do not have the stock foggies. Any suggestions on where to get a light bar so I can add two extra external lamps?

Light Bar:

1.Get two pieces of thick flat stock (I used parts of an old piece for a garage door opener).

2.Remove grille

3.Drill holes directly through the part that the grille sits above and about 1" behind.

4.Get some bolts with a couple of big fender washers.

5.Bolt flat stock through bumper. With the grille out you can reach under the bumper easily.

6.Trim bottom of gille to suit. Re-install grille.

7.Bolt light bar across the two pieces of flat stock.

I did this on my 97 Outback and the mounts are so strong I can stand on them. (I am a BIG guy!)

The bumper on my Outback is metal with a thick plastic liner of some sort (see the pictures). I drilled through both and through-bolted it. The aluminum bar that my lights mount to can then be bolted to the mounts so that I can put it on and take it off.

Here is what it looks like. Note that it doesn't stick out beyond bumper and create a hazard.

Hope this helps.

Do you think it would be stable without the light bar?

I moved the topic to the correct forum.

I did something very similar to what NGTD did, but without the bar. I only have 2 Hella 500FFs and they're stable. I used some very oversized self tapping bolts to hold them down. I'm thinking of using longer brackets so I can get 2 bolt into the bumper on each bracket to stabilize it though.

Because it was a for sale thread and you looked at it a year later lol

I edited my first post for clarification (typed the wrong word, oops).
