Hey hey,
I gotta 2000 Legacy L and I'm looking to disconnect the alarm system because it's getting old and senile. I read something once about there being a white connector inside the drivers door that you can disconnect it, but I've got no clue if that's accurate or not. Anyone have an idea as to what I need to do?

IF it is the actually alarm and not just the keyless entry, then I think you have more than just one connection.
I am pretty sure you have a starter interupt relay/connector along with the actual security box which for me was mounted behind the ashtray and under the stereo inside the center console.

Mine was mounted right under the dash by the drivers feet although mine is a BD. Its a giant white plug and you cant miss it..
Here's the alarm book:

I am pretty sure that is the keyless entry... if it isnt then it is the code alarm and the OP has a stock alpine alarm like me.

no its the alarm. Thats why it has the knock sensor and the horn. Mine was exactly the same as the book, and it was an alarm which eventually went nutz..lol

Good to know. Either way your alarm is completely different from his alarm.
I have his alarm (99 was the first year to use the alpine alarm) which I got one of the last OEM upgrade kits from subaru. I installed it about 3 weeks ago and it screwed into a strip of metal that ran across the center dash behind the ashtray. Under where the radio wiring harness would be with the radio pushed all the way back.
Now we just need to find out if his alarm is placed in the same position as a BD... which is doubtful.
