I'm developing a bit of rod knock so I've started looking into a USDM EJ20 swap. I know whats needed to do the swap, the problem I'm having is finding a wreck to pull it out of...
Anyone have any good resources for wrecked Subarus? I know I can buy everything piece by piece but I'd much rather buy a whole car and part out what I don't need rather then waste time/money piecing stuff together.

I have a site with auctions with lots of Wrxs. Let me get it for you. I almost picked a whole car up for 1800 one day.

You can also look at buying a whole front clip from a bad ass JDM car...

Sweet! Def send that my way.
Harry, I'd love to swap in a JDM motor because they're WAY cheaper but finding parts might be a bitch...

I see some every once in a while on jdm engine zone, no harness or ecu though so that sucks.

Jdmhot went out of business earlier this year, looks like my swao happened at a good time. I'm sure evrything overseas got scrapped after the tsunami, looking more like usdm is the way to go now. Go ej257/6mt and all the bits, it's only money, that stuff grows on trees anyways
Matter of a fact, get one of the ej20g's, swap your heads tap oil return lines and use your ej25 heads and wiring with standalone and should be good to go!

Doesn't look like I can bid on anything without a broker... Looks promising though, there's a few cars on there with $0 bids lol.

i usually just search all of PA and then sometimes in NY although i wouldn't buy one from NY.. they definitely have some deals though especially for a whole car. Having everything plus whatever left to sell off makes it a lot easier.

Might also check on the Impreza forums in the regional section. I've bought pretty much all of my swap parts on there, and there are occasionally (wrecked) vehicles for sale on there as well. Plus, its all local!

True, but a lot of times on those forums they know what their cars are worth making the sale price a lot higher. I have seen blown tranny wrxs go for around 6-8k and at an auction you can prob get it for two. There are deals out there you just have to find them.

there's usually some great deals in NY on cars.. anyone know what it takes to buy one up there, then fix it and register it in pa? i would imagine its a hassle.

Wrong thread bud. You are asking how to tear one apart rather than fix on up. Lol. Prob can arrange a shipping truck pickup and drop it off in your driveway. Regestering or getting a "R" title car from out of state will be a pia.

I wasn't looking to buy a wreck and fix it, I was looking for a cheap wreck to steal the drivetrain from lol.

haha crap thats not what i meant, i meant using the parts as a swap. Now that i think about it, your not getting it R-titled so where you buy it shouldnt matter. Gees, i need to get my head out of my ass...

iaai.com is the other site I've been searching besides copart. I already got my drivetrain but if there was a main yard closer to me I'd definitely bid on more stuff haha.
