00 rs trans in a BD?

I pulled the trans out of my car, making more noise and have a guy that would still buy it. I have a 00 rs trans sitting in the car but the hole for the cv shaft/ trans output shaft roll pins don't line up. I can slide the cv shafts off turn one spline and still off, seems like they are just a half spline different?

Possible remedies would be drill the hole larger on the trans but those stubs are extremely hard. Can't drill the cv shafts as they are what holds the pins in thight so should I just leave them out?

first you have the shafts on the wrong wide. swap them and they will fit. 2nd you need to see if your final drive matchs the final in the tranny. if it does not you will blow things. 3rd check the speedo. see if yours in the car is the same plug or not.

You don't need to swap from one side to the other, just rotate 180*. Left and right axles are identical.

If you look at the stub you will notice that the hole on one side is between splines, on the other it is between grooves.

If it's a 5 speed, you can use this chart to make sure your final ratio is the same.

I didn't remove the shafts from the car when I switched trans, so maybe the rotate like Hocrest mentioned. I did match the final drive, trans code matched what the seller was saying it was, from a 00rs which is 4.11. Swapped speedo sensor. I'll try the 180 turn, it was late and way too hot in my garage, can't believe I didn't try that.

Well I at least tried turning one side 180 before I left out of town and that was it, thanks Hocrest! Now I can enjoy my weekend!
