I wanted to get an intake for my Legacy so i could gain some more higher end torque, since mine feel like it has no power over 4500 rpm's. So last week me and my cousin went to a local junk yard in our area. I decided to look at the older impreza's mid 90's with the 2.2's. The first one i came across was just recently added to the junk yard. I looked at it, it had a K&N filter in it and had a stock intake that looked like it would fit my legacy. I want to make a hybrid intake with it my taking my old intake off, replacing it with the impreza intake and putting a cone filter on it. It is prolly a better then buying a $175 or $200 intake, since i got the intake and the K&N filter for only 7 bucks
P.S. my stock intake has the filter box right above the TB, and the impreza intake comes straight off of the TB and then goes to a filter. I should have pics of my new intake on sometime later this week or next week. Any opinions you guys have are greatly appreciated.

Your BE has an EJ251.. it uses a MAP sensor not a MAF sensor. What this means is you have the ability to create any intake regardless of filter location.

MAP (Manifold Absolute Pressure) measures air at the manifold not at the filter like MAF (Mass Air Flow Sensor)

You can go nuts..

Most guys just put a K&N in the stock airbox (above the TB) and use an "accordian" style tube that goes right into the fender.

IMHO cone filters in the engine bay on non-turbo cars are pointless since they become a "warm air intake"

Your stock rectangle air filter will out flow a cone filter any day..

If you want a louder intake sound remove and plug those dead end tubes :-D

The intake is a work in progress. i want to see if it works better than the stock box if it does then i will start making some minor adjustments to it.

I love the way it looks the stock intakes take up so much room. My stock intake looks just like that black beast.
