Tire size for 17" LGT wheels on a BD?

I'm sure it's been covered, but I only have a few minutes this AM before I need to start working. I have a 97' BD that I'm about to put some 04' ST springs/ struts on, and have a set of 17" 05' LGT wheels that I'm going to run. What's the best size to run if I don't want to worry about rubbing? the stock 215/45/17 ? or can i go a little wider?

I would stick with 215, the offset is pretty high on those wheels IIRC and anything wider will rub.

You can go 225 with the right suspension setup. I am currently on Yoko 205/40/17 (the stock tire size) and am lowered on KYB GR2 and King Springs, but it looks like I have enough room to go to 225/45/17.

You'd be safe with 215/45 R17 but you'll have to test fit. I don't know how much clearance 04 STi suspension will give you.

Stock offset on the 05-06 LGT wheels is ET55, they are 17x7. Pretty much the same as the JDM GTB wheels or "UK17" type B4 wheels.

I'll probably just go with 215's. Maybe I'll see if there's someone local that has a set I can try on my car, besides that I can't really test before I buy.

anyone have pictures of 205/50/R17's on a lowered legacy? I have 215/45/R17's on my eibach lowered BD currently.. and they rub a bit when turning. Was wondering if my next set of tire should be 205/40/R17, or 205/50/R17. These seem to be the cheapest options after 205/40/R17. I just dont think 205/40's would have much meat on them!

Roll them. I am only rubbing a little on the large bumps/holes with 225/45/17s and Wrx struts and Eibach springs. Rolled them too. I just need to pull them a little.

I run 225-50-17 with my Tein flex suspenaion. On Sti wheels. Doesn't rub, but I did trim the in lip the rear fenders.
